You can go lighter, at the risk of losing CCAs for only shedding a couple of more lbs. I wouldn't recommend it on a street vehicle.

OEM is over $1000. This is like half that. You cannot go to Autozone or Costco and grab a battery.

Dealer is about ~$1800 on a replacement LiFePO4 battery, and rarely dealers will have any in stock.

You can run the ATX-30 (5.75lb), but will need a custom mounting solution to fit within an H8 footprint. Battery type/registration will need to be changed as well.

Question on the programming part.
In this section it shows "70 AH AGM" In the next one it shows "70 AH" Which one are we programming the car with when using this battery? The 70 AH AGM option or the 70 AH option? Also, if I check it after programming / registering it, does it show as "70 AH" or "70 AH AGM"? Kind of confused so hope its just an error with the screenshots. |

Edit: sorry it’s upside down. Posted it from my phone. Says: electrical power supply limited.
Just installed it. Everything is great and followed the write up with the same battery and setting. Now I get this error, anyone seen this or know a remedy? Currently On hold with EAS after talking with Tom, so figured I’d post.

Has coding/registration been performed yet?
Edit: Just spoke on the phone a short while ago, you're missing the battery cable w/ IBS sensor.

Hi Tom: I have my 2016, M4 on a battery tender designed for lithium batteries. I bought the car a month ago and the battery has not been replaced. How can I figure out the health of my current battery? Thank you for your post and how do I go about getting a battery from you with the proper cable? Thank you again!

Just wanted to bump this and vouch for this battery! Saved some good money as opposed to going with the expensive OEM battery. Had my car serviced at the dealership recently as well and didn't have any issues! Been running this battery for about a month now.

I did this over the summer after a lot of frustration. I registered my battery with Carly. I see Tom didn't recommend that - I just said it was the same type as what was in the car already (Carly didn't give me an option). I assumed its close enough (70).
Is that going to be a problem? I then realized 2 additional issues: 1. What if the battery does drain below the threshold and my restart remote doesn't work? I'm screwed - can't get into the car right? I ask this because where I ordered the Antigravity they only gave me one remote! I don't know if that was right - a friend got two. I have 2 keys so would ideally want a remote for each key. 2. I am getting an issue with Parking feature not working. I didn't even know this car had some sort of fancy parking thing and I could care less about it - other than that this warning message is causing a problem. When I put the car in reverse, it forces me to hit "ok" every single time to see the rear camera! I didn't know what was going on the first few times and if the wife or kids drive the car, they might forget and I really want this thing remedied. I can't imagine why replacing the battery causes this problem but this problem wasn't there before and now is and I did nothing other than install this battery. Thoughts? |

You should get 2 FOBs with the battery. If something is draining the battery, you would be in the same situation as if you had the stock battery installed, that's not really a battery (Antigravity or OEM) issue - but a vehicle issue that needs to be looked at. You can still get into the cabin, pop the hood and jump power to open the trunk and press the REStart button on the battery itself to start the vehicle. Not sure about your other issue, a battery swap doesn't cause these things to happen. Try using a different key to see if its related to specific options programmed to the driver profile stored on the key.
