Its bad enough to happen in first 200 miles but at least you are in the states. Can you imagine if this had happened during an ED! Sorry to hear and hope you get the car back soon

Part has to be replaced so I am effed for a week since it has to come from Germany... Why am I getting a feeling that this the tip of the iceberg of future problems about to come? 200 miles and already down and out for a week?

I'm with those that have said they'd like to know exactly what they saw that was wrong besides colored fluid, which overall isn't a determinate. Must be some thing for the repair to have been authorized?

Because unless he's taken it apart, OR a gear tooth came out in the drain, he actually has no idea why it's broken.

No clue who that is and could care less lol. Per BMW dealer they didn't open it and could tell by the color of the fluids and the amount of metal particles in the fluid. I will be calling BMW na tomorrow to speed things up.

Called BMW na, they said to wait for the part and not much they can do. Over night takes 7 days? Lol she couldn't tell me why it's called over night if it takes a week.

Diagnosticians, whether it's a car, or the medical field, have the tough job of figuring out what style their customer is. Some people want a minimum of information, and when to come get it, - Others want detail, and hopefully won't read more into it than they should.
If you approach a good manager kindly, and give them some confidence you won't attack, most will tell you what they know, and the special ones might even accept some input.
I realize this type of answer doesn't feed the fire of the Forum, but hopefully it may help you to get through this, it's a big disappointment that may be over soon.

I am being told 10 days, one is being pulled from the production line (sorry for the poor sob that his car will now be late). So here is a question, how does BMW not have extra parts for these cars? With their history of problems on all first series of cars wouldnt they be better prepared to have parts on hand?

They are too busy building these, those that are paying already so they, as in you, are not a priority anymore.

I'm sorry to read about your trouble, it's still great to see you taking this so well. We have had our share already of people having a complete melt down over the cars, and this will only get worse.
