[QUOTE=absoluteis350;18851572]Ya, you can't miss that lake! We took pictures of it but just didn't have room to post them. Wow ! That's fantastic to have a house on that lake. How is Vars to ski ? I was imagining what it would look like in the snow, and put it on my 'to-ski' list for if I go to Europe skiing.

Definitely agree with you... People doing ED really need to hit home just how amazing the French Alps are for driving. They blow Austria, Switzerland away when it comes to driving enjoyment. When I was researching ED, I don't think I read many threads that really did justice to those roads. Simply amazing.

Thanks for the read and comments

In summer, we take the boat and go waterskiing and in winter we go skiing in Vars. It is a great domain to ski, lots of fun parks (has one of the best parks in Europe/the world). Super fun.

I know the region very well (I've been going there for over 26 years now) so I can really confirm the roads are EPIC. For driving as well as views. Great choice to go there. Did you cross the big bridge over the lake and then go via "Le Sauze du Lac" to head over the Restefond? Great views of the lake on that road.

Great recap. I really enjoyed your writing style and the car is beautiful. Best of luck staying sane through the re-delivery wait.

Thanks all for the positive feedback Ya not many times in my life will I do ED with an M, so might as well spend max time driving amazing roads.

Although I am surprised that there are no other 'foodies'/gourmet food lovers on here You all really, really need to check out (at the very least) Schauenstein. But I guess it is a car forum after all

Thx Deja ! Definitely. And try to plan in those French Alp passes (or either of the roads Rt Napoleon / Rt Grandes Alpes) and drop off in Nice. They will be the best driving you will ever do as echo'd by vdvpj

So our exact route in that area was Route Napoleon from Grenoble down to Gap, then in Gap we headed on the N94 over to the lake and across the bridge (where I took some pics, not posted) then North to Mont-Dauphin to get onto Col de Vars. Then from Vars it was basically all mountain passes until we got down to southern France. Col de Vars -> Col de la Bonette -> Col de Turini -> Menton (basically Route des Grandes Alpes).

I'll post up the route in general, in case people are interested.

In case anyone cares, here is an overview of the route we took.. I'd be happy to link the Google Map Itinerary if desired. Basically, 2150km. Google maps messes up the route at col de la bonette (refuses to let us go via it, likely that its closed now) so the path between G and H is more along the red markers of interest.

Great story! I'm a bit jealous at the driving routes there. The pictures are great. We almost crossed paths at a few points. If we go again in the future, we'll definitely be aiming for better weather and similar routes.

The car wash, located at Nice airport, was pretty nice actually. It cost me a total of 5 euro, there was no line, and the implements were clean and exceptionally soft. I wasn’t going to use the brush at all, but when I saw how clean and how soft it was, I used it gently (even though I am overly cautious in how I hand wash my car usually). The before and after pictures really show how dirty the car was.
I'm glad you snagged some good pictures there at the drop off. I have a few with just the two cars, but having yours in there as well is a great trio.

The car wash surprised me as well. I'm very happy it was so convenient and open at 7:00 AM. Although, I won't lie, I went there the day before to buy codes to use the wash just in case.

I don't think I had a moment to really see anything at the airport other than the freaking security area and a blur of that stupid duty free shopping area. All my worry about missing my flight due to the drop off time and yet that stupid Bucherer stop watch was what nearly caused me to miss it!

It's a nice color but obviously not as unique or exciting as that Bentley blue car.

great writeup. Makes me want to do the euro delivery even more when i got to the end.

Your ordered that car right. Individual color and CCB brakes. I see so many individual color orders here but then they skimp out on the brakes or lighting package.

Car looks great! Love the stitching as well. Sorry you ran into weather issues on Susten Pass...that was the highlight of my ED trip! Nonetheless, the other alps/passes you drove on seemed like it made up for it!

Congrats! Looks like you had a blast!

I noticed you were from Boston, what dealer did you work with? How were they in dealing with ED and Individual?

There is no doubt this is a more complex, and more awesome color than Mineral Grey. Awesome choice!

Awesome ED adventure indeed! There's just so much that you can experience with your car that even for our short 5-day trip we created memories that last a lifetime. For those who missed out on the opportunity, definitely consider doing it next time.

Glad you did the car some justice by taking it to the several Alpine passes. I remember feeling the same "shat my pants" feelings you did going up the Jaufenpass on our way to Innsbruck
