Subaru Forester.... perfect for everything the M4 isn't very good at.... hauling things, getting dirty, driving in snowy/icy roads in the mountains.

I bought a 2015 JGC Summit w/ the Hemi last August. It is my do everything vehicle (i.e. winter, mountain biking, dog hauler, home stuff, etc.). The only negative is the fuel economy. With near 7k miles on the odometer, it's been reliable and rattle-free. If you listen to music, consider the HK system.

I sold my 435i GC and will be ordering an M4 next month.

I came close to buying a JGC Summit a few years ago. Drove one, loved it, but wasn't sure it was big enough for my family (wife + 2 toddlers). So we went with the Infiniti QX and I regret the decision. Wife loves the car (it's our child hauler for now, she has a company car) and will keep it as her main car when she stops working in a few months. If she's happy, we're happy but I avoid that thing unless we're making our yearly drive to CO. For long road trips, no better long distance hauler around than the 3 row Infiniti. I'm glad to be back in a SUV more my size, a T4R.

I'm right there with you Mine's a '97 CL with almost 228k. Getting close to that time to replace it though.

One of my favorite SUV's ever made. I love those things, but boy are they pricey. That's the name of the game when it comes to these Toyotas

Agreed. You lease BMW SUV's, you buy a Toyota SUV/Truck and drive them until the wheels fall off. But you might be dead of old age before the SUV/truck though

True, although you really cant drive them until the wheels fall off because rarely do the wheels fall off Yoda trucks. They are built tough, last forever, and will outlive many of the drivers that own them.

People say Toyota trucks are bulletproof. I go to Africa for work 4-6 times per year. This statement is literal, and true.

Great truck. My mother has one-- when I visit them and drive it, I'm thoroughly impressed. Ditto on sound system, the stock system is lacking.

Haha- I remember on safari in South Africa, our cut off land cruiser actually had a mechanical problem! Steering rack snapped and we went down into a ditch and hit a tree. Oh, there were white rhinos 100 yards away. Good times.

Considering the abuse those safari vehicles take, I'll concur. Steering rack is bound to fail on those trails.

Curious about this choice. Right off the bat let me tell you I love the Golf R. Great car that earns my attention every time I see it on the road.

But it is so similar to your BMW. Why get two cars so close in size & performance? Not trying to be negative at all, just curious about the mind set.

Hope you're enjoying both of them.

because the R is mostly driven by my wife and occasionally by me, also we have a copper S

We used to have a Touareg that we traded for the R , and children also like it more .

Now I am waiting for an M3 for which I will take delivery on May 6th in Munich

For me the R and the M4 are totally different:

Golf R
- 4 doors
- compact car
- 4 wheel drive
- automatic
- I can use it for business and daily jobs

M4
- 550 hp race car
- rear wheel drive
- highly modded for track use
- manual gear box
- gts wing and orange colour
--> everywhere you go you will be recohnized

I only drive the M4 for fun and from April to October.

For the winter and rainy days the golf R is the better car and it is also fun to drive.

agree with all
when I drive children to school I take the R and sometimes I drive the M but I drive R more often , it is more utilitarian and very fun to drive

My R is also manual
