I have owned both... the MCT in the C63 is decent but no where near as responsive as the DCT. The biggest difference is immediate downshifts with the DCT whereas the MCT kind of does it when it feels like it

Good for the street. Not good enough for the track. If you never track the car, then I would not let MCT or DCT make the decision. If you do, I would avoid the MCT. I sold mine because it wasn't responsive enough and overheated at the track. If I never tracked my cars I would have been perfectly happy with it. Outside of the MCT in a track environment, the C63 is stellar.

Interestingly enough, AMG recently announced a cooling upgrade that can be retrofitted to the MCT cars. Basically, the kit consists of the Black Series cooling setup. Personally, I think I'm going to skip it. My late '13 model seems to run about 20-30 degrees cooler than some of the older MCT-equipped cars.

Who cares if its M or AMG, both are great cars and there is no such thing is one better than the other. Even if it is it certainly doesnt make you better. Love M cars but always have respect for other brands and models and will pull the trigger on either, once they are available for test drive and probably 2 or 3 years down the road when most of the bugs are resolved

I respect both vehicles and I can't wait to get behind the wheel of the m4 and soon to be released 2015 C63. Also let's not forget the Lexus RC-F

Now I am thinking that maybe I should give C63 507 edition a shot. I can always buy the M4 later. HMMMM, decisions decisions.

You do know the C63 beat the e92 M3 around the ring? I love both cars but you may not be up to date on Mercedes.
There is also a little known form of racing called F1, I hear Mercedes are somewhat competitive this yr. |

Having had an 09 C63 I do think there is a good chance of a breakthrough car. But that car will need to be lighter and it will need a better transmission than the outgoing car. I think the engine has great promise.

A lot lighter. And 50/50 F/R weight balance. And responsive chassis. And...
A bunch of stuff hard to reconcile with a heavy V8.

I test drove the C63 AMG (not the 507 edition). Honestly it was nice, fast, but still felt a little heavy when taking it into corners, and this was on a highway. The BMW feels like more of a drivers car (E92 M3). I can't really comment on the M4 since I have yet to drive one. My comment about Mercedes and trains was suppose to be a joke . Please tell me more about this thing called F1, I've heard they've developed the technology to take both right and left turns? |

I thought turbos ruin the sound.... this is what I read in the bitchfest about the S55. But, hey, Mercedes will solve that with the turbo V8, 500+ hp, lighter, cheaper, better handling, sportier car that sounds better. If only we had bought the true M3 years ago.... oh wait, I did.

I'm shocked already about how ugly it is. The performance may be there but I think the new design is way too soft...they're going to have to make some drastic changes to AMG model to convince me.

I think the F80 guys need to understand that there are people out there that care about sound AND performance. But saying the F80 is faster than the E92, therefore you need to buy it is silly. but it seems the only way to get a good sounding, powerful engine these day is to buy either a muslce car or a Corvette. the corvette might be a idea, but if they can make the C63 AMG sound decent. its worth checking out. Even guys on the AMG forums will tell you the current 6.2L will sound better than the new turbo V8. AMG turbo engines sound better than most turbo engine i have heard. Germany took a hit in the sound department. cars are fast as shit though! |

Nice specs. If they offered a manual or true dual clutch I would be seriously interested. Unlike many others I like the styling of the new C class.

Seriously, are there engineers leaving BMW and going to AMG (or vice versa) or is there some type of corporate espionage going on? Eerily similar engine concepts to S63 and S55, but does seem like Merc is one upping on content with keeping a V8 in C63.
