Are you saying they don't wanna listen to my stories from 1982 about my dungeons and dragons exploits? My God, I had a vorpol weapon and Boba Yagas hut! And an armor class so low it was unbelievable!! I can't brag about that at the dinner table?

Nothing material wise but we had a normal Christmas with extended family so that was really cool. Wife and I don’t really do presents as we mostly have what we want and we just get it ourselves if we do want something.

Oh man, we had this on guy, Steve, who was the THE BEST DM ever. Like seriously the best. It totally made the game and we'd have these sleep-overs and play in his basement the entire weekend. I was a thief. just loved that shit.

Then Steve got sick of being DM and insisted on being a character so another guy did it ... 3 months later it all spilled out onto the front lawn with two guys throwing punches and tearing shirts because one killed the other's character in order to finish a level.

And that was the end of my D&D days.

In a related 1982 story, remember this Tom Hanks movie?

It varied recently. Lowest during the day is 50 F. Lowest during the night was 35 F.

Lups, how is it in Finland with your neighbors to the East doing what they always do? I was stunned that both Finland and Sweden are seriously thinking about officially joining NATO. I don’t think they want a return to the past (especially Finland) where they had to run everything through Moscow first. This may backfire on Putin spectacularly. He’ll get Ukraine but at a huge cost. Potentially bankrupting Russia again and galvanizing the West/NATO against him.

I suggested that Finland could take back Karelia. Apparently that's not a political issue in Finland anymore though.

Thank God nobody is channeling the spirit of Neville Chamberlain in the west nowadays.

I think the US should orbit B-52s over Romania and turkey, and disrupt the supply lines of the Russians might have if they do invade. Don't attack the Russians in Russia, but I think they're fair game once they're in Ukraine. Tomahawk missiles could absolutely disrupt their supply chain.

Fuck this shit. Ukraine is in deep, apparently Europe can't handle anything these days, and we need to grow balls. I'm all in for the EU to have a joined defence, at this point I'd even vote for finland to join NATO too. I guess I'm all for fucking around and finding out then, since while I'm well aware of the strengths of the Russian military, I also know how they're funded.
That's my stance. Hubby will deal with the kids, I'll go in since we both served. Indeed, I also fuck around, and am willing to find out.
