Also read it will have the new Mercedes column shifter. Sounds like a small thing, but that alone would bother me every time I got in the car. I rest my hand on the shifter when I drive the car. I also don't shift with the paddles every single time. |

I suppose they'd be better off contracting them out like BMW M does with the DCT, and the 8-Speed Sport. Auto. The MCT in the W205 will be an updated one/version. MB AMG does use a true dual-clutch in the CLA45 but all reports indicate that the MCT is a bit better. The DCT in the SLS Black is quite good, too. Personally, I find the MCT to be a great transmission, particularly in Comfort mode during daily driving. It's a little less punishing than the M-DCT around town but the most recent version of the M-DCT has definitely improved significantly in this regard. In Manual mode, the M-DCT is superior to the MCT.

The LCI cars really did receive a major overhaul. The suspension firmed up quite a bit, the steering became one of the car's best attributes, and the cooling hardware was beefed up. Also, the LCI cars benefit from the "Agility Select" rotary knob/selector. You can choose between C, S, S+, M, and RS (Race Start). MB AMG got rid of the flip-up navigation screen and introduced a thicker, flat-top, flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel. There were several other exterior/interior cosmetic improvements. Furthermore, the LCI C63 also received the MCT transmission. The MCT cars suffer less power loss.

Agreed... the MCT is actually a very good transmission. My only complaints with it are speed and responsiveness of downshifts and overheating at the track. Those two "issues" are significant to me at the track but, for around town, it is a very capable transmission.

Do you think tweaking the software alone could improve the transmission substantially? I have the Eurocharged V5 tune for my W204 and I would say that it has sharpened up the responsiveness of the downshifts a bit. On my most recent M4 test drive, the newest version of the M-DCT left me virtually speechless. I had some trouble with surging and bucking at low speeds in the E92 w/ DCT. This trait was basically non-existent on the F82.

I am weird, I like the bucking and surging. Makes it not feel like a traditional automatic and more like a manual gearbox. I still miss the SMG quirkiness, that almost everyone hated. The rougher and more aggressive the transmission feels, the more I like it.

But I thought when he said "I can't believe I'm driving this barge of a C63 when all I want is an M4 land rocket" it summed up his feelings pretty well. ...or maybe that's just how I interpreted it. |

The M4 felt like it had a bit more bite off the line because of how much torque is available down low. The sharp/instantaneous throttle response and the quick-shifting DCT also helped the M4 feel impressive from a dig.
However, once the revs started to climb, my tuned C63 clearly felt like it pulled harder (especially from 5,500 rpm and beyond). Quote:

hmm are you sure it's not a render? The seat headrests look awfully pedestrian for AMG lol

Regarding the seats, the new W205 C63 will come standard with seats similar to those found in the current W212 E63 and E63-S. These will be the optional Recaro seats for the W205 C63:

Not true: we have the gas guzzler tax, a whole whopping $1,700 for V8 and up.

V8 does not equal gas guzzler tax. Case in point, the new C7 Corvette. Also E63 doesn't have gas guzzler, while the M5 does. |
