Testing at Streets of Willow Springs CCW
We loaded the trailer and set out for Streets of Willow, hosted by JMP Autowerkz. We arrived slightly late with 4 minutes until the second session. I unloaded the trailer, torqued the wheels, and drove straight to the hot pits. Immediately the car felt better on the stock tune. Zero hiccups, no drivetrain malfunction, and ran an easy 1:24 lap. The tires were just about done, so I saved what was left to aim for a 1:23 in the next session. It was time for the 3rd session, now with slightly hotter temperatures. I took the car out for about 5 total laps (two cool downs included) and the lap times on the AIM Solo were: 1:23.57 1:22.95 1:22.42 The laps felt great with definitely some time left on the table with an alignment to dial out understeer. I'm looking forward to adding some SPL arms for additional front camber adjustment and realign the car before round 2 of Bimmer Challenge at Buttonwillow on the 29th. Testing was successful and we had accomplished what we came for, ensuring that the car ran issue free, and enjoy a day of lapping with some friends. During lunch break, JMP announced a "drift" session over the speaker. I wasn't going to let that opportunity pass, so I headed straight to the skid pad to send the tires off in style. |

Tune
Hey Matt, awesome write up 👊. Back to this aftermarket tune, "Are you going to continue testing and try to make it work or abandon it completely? Thanks.

Same thoughts. Hate to read the tune hasn’t worked out. Have you given any thought about Tom@EAS? Not sure who was or has helped with the previous tune.

Tom and everyone at EAS has been a great help so far. They didn't tune my car, but I know several EAS/Cary Jordan tuned cars with success under track use. It was my personal custom tune that just wasn't working out for what I needed. As I mentioned about to Jacob, I will run the rest of the season on stock power, stock tune, perhaps with an AA midpipe, then next year I will be moving to MHD as far as tuning goes. |

Final Prep for Bimmer Challenge Round 2
With the tune gremlins sorted out there was no much left to do to finalize the car for it's second time attack competition aside from alignment. I brought the car over to Robert Choo at Chewerks and we made some slight adjustments with the limited parts we had. We increased front camber from -3.5 to -3.7 and removed a bit of rear toe to help the car rotate a bit better. Unfortunately I dropped a wheel and bent one of the TE37s at Streets of Willow. We were able to bend it back to balance out perfectly (Forged ftmfw) and we refinished them in house to Volk Racing Ti Silver. This time around, we will no longer be running slicks but rather a street tire in hopes of beating out time with both slicks and 100tw tires. The tire of choice was a 295/30/18 Yokohama Advan A052. Gave the filthy thing a wash, and we're just about ready to load up. |

I feel like this thread belongs in Car & Driver or Road & Track. Amazing build documentary. I love the color, the wrap looks perfect. Of course the rest of the build is...inspiring and exhilarating to read, I can only imagine the satisfaction you all have gotten out of building and tracking it.
