No I think it's less than 20 but I have a deep concave at the gutter that causes the problems as I back down

My F80 is stock...no mods (i.e. springs). It is an estimate but given what others report, pretty close to reality.

Anything happens if you scrape the rubber deflector ...what's the purpose of it

3inch does seem low for slopy driveways

Think he's out of country?

But the ground clearance isn't too bad. I'm used to driving cars with lower clearance. Not as low as Victor's of course but more or less used to it.

I scraped mine coming out of a driveway couple of times. Nothing happened. Didn't even leave scratch marks on the rubber.

I think that 3" is with the front lip installed, and he is talking to the rubber underside? HR springs lower the front by another inch ? That would mean 2-3 in in the front, which seems low.

go ahead and buy yourself a low profile jack, 3.75" or lower low position jack height and you will be all good. The lower the profile the better incase you ever lower the suspension

i wanna get this http://www.homedepot.com/p/Powerbuil...0422/203116734

cause it locks into place and serves as a jackstand but collapsed height is 5.5 inches so i'm not sure it fits. maybe I can remove the wheels? lol. i do have a low profile jack already maybe I can use that to lift it a bit to stick this one under?

I spent so much time focusing on what was on the roads and driveways, that it was taking away from enjoying the drive. After I got back I did an eyeball measurement of the ground clearance under the front bumper and it looks like it's 3 and 1/2 inches.

Is this a legitimate concern or was I in a particularly nasty neighborhood? Keep in mind that I've been driving full size trucks for the last 30 years and normally I just drive over whatever is in the road

Thanks for the help,

I live in Houston. Went with the 18's and adaptive. It's awesome and I don't have too much trouble with curbs, transitions, etc.

Sounds like you are not going to enjoy owning it. Get an X5M
Maybe a pickup, f150 raptor perhaps? With adjusted suspension

Is it possible to remove the rubber/plastic flaps underneath the front lip on the car? Considering it comes like this from the factory, does anyone know the purpose that these flaps serve?

The only thing I was concerned with scraping during my test drive was my summer sausage on the steering wheel. :

The low riding is one of the things I sold my F80. Being 4 doors and riding about the same as my R8 is ridiculous. I have to admit the F80 rides a tad higher than it's replacement the GT4 which has more of a purpose to be low.

I wish it was higher or has the same approach angle as the E36.

Really? Here I am thinking it needs to be lower.

Yah that's true but I still think it needs to be low, so low that is submerges into the road. Who needs tires anymore
