I'm very anti-CUV, would rather have a wagon (which is pretty much dead in this market). I'd rock an M3 wagon over any other car in the market under a 911 GT / T. I'd probably drive an S4 wagon over an M3 sedan as well...that's how much I love them. |

Great thread.
I'm kicking myself a little now for getting into my second f30. I wanted similar size but more power, got frustrated, and just settled for another f30. What's most interesting to read about is comfort with the m3. Wife and new baby...seems like with that adaptive suspension and 18s the ride would be similar to f30? I wish i could exchange now for the m3. Another 20 mths left on the lease. Another issue....I know EVERYONE is probably going to think I'm crazy. But I prefer the look of the front end of the f30 to the f80. Last edited by rastaman777; 11-27-2015 at 03:37 PM.. |

Lots and lots and lots. I had (have, I kept it) a heavily modified E90 335. I used to think that given the mods the difference may be small. Lord was I wrong. The M3/4 is a completely different beast altogether. Just drive one. You will see.

It's been a week since I traded my F30 335 m sport xdrive with the MPPK for my '16 M3 6MT and its night and day. The gap between the two is a lot larger than I initially thought. I was a huge fan of my F30 and felt it was a great balance between performance, handling and fun to drive factor. Since taking delivery of the M3, I couldn't have been happier with the decision. The amount of modifications needed to make a F30 feel like a F80 would be staggering and you'd still come up short. Drive one and you'll see.

I'm going from a loaded 2013 F30 328 M line 6-speed to a loaded F83 6 speed. It's about $220 more per month. I'm pretty sure the sound, look, performance and thrill will be worth it.
What have F30 owners felt about the interior? It's obviously familiar, but does it feel "different" enough? |

I have driven a number of older M cars, E85 Z4M, E90, E92 M3 and it feels very different from my car. The M engines seems like they are working hard and it feels quicker than my F30. I am not sure if it is quicker or if I am perceiving it to be quicker because of the engine noise that the NA's are outputting.
When I compare my F30 335i to a previous M car, it seems way too smooth...doesn't seem like a sports sedan. So my question to F80 owners, does the F80 have the sporty, "rough around the edge" feel like its predecessors? Or is a quicker and just as smooth as the F30 feel? |

The feeling from the steering wheel and the noises (particularly if you keep active sound running) are the main interior differences to me |

I have an 07 E92 335i 450WHP 465WTQ. Just bought my girlfriend a 2015 F30 335i 2 months ago and just picked up my F82 M4 last week. Main difference is the power, sound, and style. Interior is the same as the F3x. But i think it's worth it. Especially if you're a man hahaha.

Absolutely no regrets and never looked back. My initial test drive alone was enough to solidify my decision. The power, the suspension, the more aggressive wide body, the list goes on... This car makes me smile every time I go for a drive and I find myself doing that unnecessarily. You try, you like.

My friend has a 4 door 335xi (2013) with pretty much all of the options including HUD, and MSport. I have an M4. it is completely different.
The 335xi... you can mash the pedal down and very little slipage even in the dry, corners aren't the same (can't go as fast as the m4) but pulling out of corners is good. the M4 is very harsh of a drive as compared to the 335xi. These cars are not similar even if people think they look alike. The M4 is raw, harsh, and viceral. The 335xi is fun, easy going and somewhat powerful. The fronts look similar but the DCT is a world away from the very nice auto in the 335xi. Quick shifts, etc. awesome Hands down, the M4.

Yes I did. Yes it was worth it. The F30 was only a filler car anyway considering I had sold my third E9X M3 in favor of it, and only needed a car to pacify me until the F8X came out. My F30 was in my possession less than a year.

I did as well, and contemplated hard, and felt guilty getting an M3 in some respects.
But it was so the right decision. Very different cars, and so much more passion in the M3. I've realized the 335i was a very good car don't get me wrong, but M3, whole new league, worth it totally, and so happy i did it.

Great thread. For those that have driven both, can you please highlight the differences with respect to steering feel.
I've had the chance of sitting in an M4, but no test drive as this was the dealer's only showroom car. Many thanks. |

Feel is subjective, so you're not going to get a clear consensus on this. The M cars always feel better than the standard versions. That much is certain.

I have an F30 335 right now. I love it. I ordered an M3 without test driving it. I felt comfortable doing so because of how much I like my F30 335.
I am sure it will exceed my expectations in every way. Faster, louder, better handling, and better looking.

If u are just DDing the car I would not upgrade. Yes M is a better car and so it costs more. But I believe you maybe anticipating "WOW what a car" from the M and what u may find in comparison with 335 is that it is a "wow car". May not be worth it for you. I suggest you test drive the M before making your decision.
