Thanks. She was a trooper. Did really well. The challenge was food. Wifey was always stressed out even though my daughter did fine. It definately slows you down big time and you have to go to bed pretty early, the day starts late as well. But that said I am so glad they could be a part of this. Someday in the future she is going to see these pictures an realize she was a part of a M delivery in Munich

Looks like an amazing trip. Can you share what a reasonable budget for a trip like this would be?

Depends a lot on the hotel of your choosing. We mostly did AirBnb with the exception of a couple of hotels so our accommodation was always under $150 per night. Assuming a 16 day trip, for a couple I would say $2500 in accommodation, around $1500 - $1800 in food and $1000 in gas and misc expense. So 5k not including air tickets. I haven't calculated what I spent yet but I think it would be in the 6-7k range including air tickets which were expensive at $2500 for us.

By the way, Germany, Austria and Italy is really cheap. If you don't go dining in at restaurants everyday it is really easy to live on $6-12 per meal and I mean good food, not Mcdonalds. Swirzerland on the otehr hand is really expensive. I would spend minimum time there. I remember we ate a 24 CHF sandwich at a regular place.

Hey just wanted to say what a great post...let me share a story with you. This is such a small world. So me and my wife and our friends just did the ED on my new BMW and we had a great time. After reading your post we even drove some of the same roads. So my wife comes home from work and tells me she just met a couple that picked up their car in Munich also. She said so i am sitting in my jumpseat (she is a flight attendant) and this guy has an Mshirt on so i asked him if he had M car..and he said yes, and they strike up a conversation. I told her i wish i was on that flight also as i would have a great time sharing our stories. I bought a M235i (i know not a full blown M car) but still a fun car. I asked her what car he bought and she only knew it was an M somthing..haha she drives me crazy but i love her.
So fast forward to tonight and i check bimmer and see this post. As i start to read it, it sounds like the story my wife told me. As i get to the pictures i ask her if this is the couple from the plane, she started to laugh and said how did you get his picture. . (She is not up on the bimmer post) i told her he just posted this so she wanted to say Hi and i wanted to say what a great car. Just FYI my car just got off the boat yesterday i should have it at the dealer on the 29th. Maybe some day we may cross paths. CHEERS she just said you asked the color. .i have Estori blue..red leather interior. .could not help myself. .there are some picks in the 2 forum under ED threads

Your pictures and write up are great You are totally making me rethink taking delivery at the Performance Center and instead switching to do ED once I make a decision and pull the trigger on buying. Congratulations on your new M3 and an awesome ED trip! Big kudos for bringing the child along.

How would you rate ED in terms of planning needed? My wife and kids talk over and over about going to Italy for a regular vacation, so maybe I'll switch and do ED instead of PCD

Looking forward to more pictures..

Haha. Great to see you on here. I do remember your wife on our flight back from Zurich. She hooked us up with anything we needed Infact just as we got into the flight she noticed the "M" shirt and came up and said hi. She mentioned you guys had just finished the euro delivery for a M as well in a blue color. I figured it was a Yas Marina blue but she said it wasn't so I figured it may be a custom color but then she said it was a M2 I knew then it was probably a 235M especially because Estroil blue seemed to ring a bell with her. Awesome awesome color Still don't know why they don't offer that as a standard color in the M3. It is a great car from what I have read. Enjoy in good health and once again, really happy to heard from you and your wife

Thank you man. I did a whole lot of planning because I am a planner by nature but I have to tell you this.....two things I learnt on this trip:

1) Whatever you plan, double the time on the road. By that I mean, if google map shows you it will take 3 hrs between two points, go with 6hrs. The fact is that with a small child everything takes longer plus you will stop on multiple occasions to see the amazing sights along the way and in general it is more enjoyable to do it that way than rush from one place to another.

2) Spend atleast 2-3 days at each location and that should not include the day you arrived. As fun as this vacation was we felt extremely fatigued throughout and it would have been a lot more enjoyable if had done half the destinations. We could not settle down and enjoy a place as much as we wanted to. We seemed to be always moving. So keep this in mind.

Nice pictures and write up, really enjoyed reading and looking at all the nice pictures.
Camera ?
What to do a BMW Welt pic up, will do late 2016 or spring 2017, depending on when the new G31 is to be launched.
Thanks, love your pictures, will view them many times :-)

Wow, amazing pictures. AW with SO interior and the black wheels looks fantastic. I went to the Munich and the Welt last fall for Oktoberfest while I was studying abroad in Barcelona. It's funny how unsexy Munich is and that it was one of my favorite cities in Europe, nothing like hearing M's and AMG's blasting down Maximilianstrasse.

I'd love to do this with an M2 in the future.

Thanks. Canon T5i with a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens. My pictures suck though. It is an amazing camera and I should be able to do a lot better.
