Interesting. In either Sport Auto or Auto Bild Sportscars they had a story about Akrapovic a few months ago. One of the key parts in that story was about the codevelopment between Akra and BMW on the F8x exhaust...

See post above.

I've got an order in for my Akrapovic Evolution for my F80 M3 and was given an expected delivery in September, so the stories above regarding timing seem valid.

On Akrapovic, I've had them on my 2 GTRs, now on my 1M and soon on my M3. I'd probably get one for the Speciale if I could... After hearing my 1M transform from humble to though, friends got them on their 1M and M3s too. So, yes, I like them. Because the quality is amazing. And I love their sound. And there is no droning sound at constant speeds, which most of its (cheaper) competitors do. The weight and HP difference is nice, but let's not kid ourselves, none of us is going to notice that. But it sounds 50 HP better, which I do care about!

BTW, somebody mentioned that they come in SS too. That's not true, it's titanium all the way. Which explains the steep price.

I'm going to do a factory visit with Akrapovic in Slovenia this July, will report back after that...

"When installing Akrapovič aftermarket optional down pipes with sports catalytic converters or without catalytic converters, which are developed for use on closed tracks only, remapping the ECU is mandatory. When installing Akrapovič aftermarket exhaust system that was developed for use on closed tracks, we recommend remapping the ECU in order to prevent potential »check engine light« warning signals."

How is it gonna be to reprogramm the car for cat-less exhaust?

The reprogramming is only needed if you buy the down-pipes. Without those, there's no need for that for the 1M. I believe that the E9x M3 did have a slightly adjusted ECU map to avoid the 'check engine' issues, but my friend never used the supplied ECU and didn't get any messages.

On the pictures, it is just me who doesn't like the 'double ringed, cut-out' tail pipes? I'd rather have the 1M or GTR style if I could... I guess I need to discuss that when I get there.

I'm talking about m3/m4, not 1m. On my 1m I had 450 hp with cat-less DPs and it is simple to reprogramm the e-series cars.
But Akra released the DPs for m3/m4 and wrote about the reprogramming, but as we all know that now there is no way to chip the f-series, only piggy bags, so that is why I'm asking this question. Will they release the software or how this gonna be!?
I'm interesting in Dps, but not the Akra ones because of the price.

Hilarious. I will wait and see what Eisenmann, AA, EVR, and the rest of the companies come out with.

2x "Media" systems are coming in July to the US but the rest are set for late September.

I'm getting that piece whether or not I get an Akra full exhaust so I might look like a huge poser with a sweet diffuser

The m3/4 will require a tune to eliminate the CEL light from the o2 sensors. It is the same with the n54/n55 cars.

Tuning is being worked on and will be available - it just will likely take a bit longer on the R&D side than the hardware.
