I have to be honest, every time I even contemplate on getting an F8X then hear these sound comparisons makes me realize how much I love my E92. This isn't a hater speaking here. There are a lot of things I love about the F8X cars, just sound to me is important. To be frank of the cars represented here in this video I like the OEM one the best. I never liked Akrapovic exhausts even on the E9X cars, are they extremely well built and expensive? Yes of course, they are almost a work of art, just don't like the sound of them.
Granted the E9x cars are pretty tame when stock, and I feel the F8X cars sound pretty aggressive stock, more so than the E9X cars. However, when you go to a set of test pipes and a different set of mufflers, even the inexpensive Megan exhaust sounds great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlNfIK1Usg0 Dave

LOL at the dueling fart cannons.
A car that expensive should not sound like that. So much for the aftermarket fixing that horrible sound like the fanboys said it would. |

It's truly depressing knowing that nothing will change the "tone" of the M3/M4 exhaust from its ricer sound. It fucking sucks, because I love everything else about the car. I legitimately want to upgrade to one soon but this is something I simply can't get past

For what it's worth, my Eisenmann full cat back sounds better, and it's getting better everyday. Over the past 9 months it seems to have gotten much loader and deeper on my F80. Sport plus setting has baffles wide open, it's throaty. IMO way better than what I hear now, will post video

Someone please educate me on why the F8x sounds so damn terrible. Even the 335is sounds better. BMW can make good sounding turbo exhausts.. so what's the deal with this car!?

i pick E9x M3 V8! The M4 is such an extremely sexy & aggressive looking car and to hear that thing sound exactly like a E90x 3 series twin turbo is just a kill joy IMO. even though its not a slow car, it does sounds like one, But then again thats just my opinion

Personally i think the M Performance Exhaust sounds awesome. I wish it was part of this comparison.
Im definitely adding it to the spec of my car. |

I do wonder why the f8x sounds so much different than the n54/55. Those sound awesome; I don't think the f8x sounds bad on person but I'd rather it sound like the n54.

Hmmm I really don't like the sound of either aftermarket there. I agree with all of the previous comments that they just sound flat out ricey. When the revs kick in there is just an extremely unrefined raspiness. . . I'm all for sharp rasp, but it sounds loose and I just really don't dig it. Hamann sounds louder, but not necessarily better in any way.
Some of it is just crappy mic'ing because I think stock actually sounds pretty good IRL. I guess I'd have to hear them in person, but I'm not excited about it either way.

Not buying f80/f82 because of the sound is just an excuse. I put aftermarket catback on all my cars so sound is important to me but it wont stop me from getting a f80, that's silly.

Yeah, pretty underwhelming. I'm kind of disappointed in the Akra. Typically I really like their work but for the price it's definitely not worth the money on this car. Shouldn't the best exhaust BMW offers (? M Performance) be standard on the M cars anyway?

It's very dissapointing how BMW failed so hard on the exhaust with this car. The review of the new AMG C63 with Chris Harris goes into some detail of how Merc put a lot of time and research into their exhaust and it sounds great.
All of these don't really sound good at all. The best I've seen so far for the M4 is the TPG exhaust but it's quite loud (which I like) But nothing really compares to a nice free-flowing exhaust on a S65 |

Not much difference between the exhausts, I would stick with stock and spend few $K's elsewhere.
