Does anyone on this thread know what status 047 means? I know it is part of the "Order Bank" of status codes, but would a production number already be assigned at this stage?
Here is why I am asking - I am in SF Bay and allocations for M3s here are non-existent. All dealers had told me there was at least a 4 month wait list - one told me 8 months. Today I get a call from a local dealer stating that they have a production number for me for a build on the 1st week of Jan. What I have learned from this post (great BTW) is that allocations and production numbers are only given in the previous month. Is it really possible for a Jan production number to exist in November? My gut tells me it is not real and that all I have is my name on a waiting list for a future allocation. The note on the screenshot provided by dealer under Status reads "047 Spec. released-no quota avail." Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

047 means the dealership does not have an allocation, which also means no production number. The code basically means BMW has received the order, but the dealership had no allocation (no quota available) So if this dealership told you they had an allocation for a january build or whatever, they lied.
Ultimately, if you want an allocation, you're probably going to have to shop farther away dealerships. Note that some dealerships will ship the car to you once they receive it. |

European Delivery Discount?
Hello everyone, Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, or one that has maybe been answered in a previous forum, but I read somewhere that if you order a new M3 and decide to do European Delivery, some people have reported you get up to 7% off the MSRP price?
Is this true? If so, I'm definitely making an order soon so to be ready for a end of May/Early June delivery, perfect in time for the Euro Cup |

LOL, jk. Yeah, you heard right, BUT, all ED after 12/31/15 is going only be discounted 5% off US MSRP. However, if you do some reading on this forum, or reach out to my CA, I'm sure you can get a deal $1500-2000 over ED Invoice. PM if you want more details. |

PCD will add about 2-3 weeks to the normal "east coast delivery" timeline that I posted.

So in total, the ED invoice price is about 14% below US MSRP (12% after jan 1st) |

The tracking option through BMWUSA.com is useless, a joke, and embarrasing quite frankly. My car went into production on or around 11/23 and I have yet to be able to track via the website. The 800 is a completely different story.

Thanks for the great post! I've never really leased before, so this helped a lot. I'm hoping to start my search for a good ED dealership around Indy next year for a September trip. Couple of questions:
1. Would ~3 months prior to my ideal pick-up date be a good time to head to a dealership? 2. For a September trip, would this be a MY2017 model? 3. I used the formulas from the OP, went to Edmunds to get an approximate invoice, and used Decembers residual rates for a 39 month lease. Does the below attached information seem reasonable? Am I being too hopeful? The reason I added a down-payment (which I really didn't want) was to get the payment as close to $750/month after taxes to get it past the wife... I wasn't sure where to use the 4% discount for ED... used it on the Capital Cost, so the "price with incentives" is pretty much only using the 4% ED discount and possibly the $500 for being a BMW member. Thanks in advance for any help! |

For september trip you are probably looking at MY2017 yes. I would start 3-4 months ahead of time.
As for your invoice price, it's incorrect. ED invoice price is roughly 5% lower than US invoice price. (as of jan 2016 -- it used to be 7% lower) So your invoice price would be closer to $66,500. Also, I think $3500 in incentives is wishful thinking. :/ On average you'll see maybe $1000-$2000 in incentives. Also it will generally be a 36 month lease. the 39 month leases are rare and if they do them, they are usually in like december. So your residual will be closer to 62% for 10k year miles. |

Just an FYI. If you decide to do the MarineTraffic free trial (Costs A LOT btw) you don't have to wait on day 14 (or 13) to cancel. You can cancel as soon as you subscribe. (Make sure to cancel and turn off renewal.)

Agreed. My F82 is scheduled for 12/21 production, so reading the post helped me tremendously in prepping to watch the stages of the process...instead of relentlessly checking the website for updates. It's the first new car I've ever bought, let alone custom ordered, so I'm friggin' excited for delivery! Hoping for mid-January...

I figured there would be some delay for the holidays, you're probably right about late January at the earliest. I just called the automated BMW USA number from the guide, and the current status is 152 - Paint Shop Started, and scheduled to complete that by tomorrow...not sure if production would be complete prior to the holiday break, or how much longer it may take to build. Nice to know production has commenced though!
