My understanding is that the rev-match function is indescriminate of up or down shifting. However, on an upshift, the revs are too high for th next gear, so there is no need for a "blip" to match the revs. The ECU will however hold the revs if one is too slow to complete the shift and release the clutch.

Wow, two things from this post and responses I've taken away... never knew what a money shift was and I've been driving one for more than 20 yrs and two most importantly never hope to attempt one, by accident or otherwise!
