In all of my years, I've never seen a better piggyback than the JB4. I sincerely mean that. Great product and a good price point.
Can't disagree with that.. Also one important aspect is it keeps improving and most improvements are free firmware upgrades.

Not yet, rarely seen in these parts.

So has anyone actually tested or dyno'd an Active 8 on 91 octane? We've seen 93 numbers but the left coast is on 91.

Have not seen any dyno on 91 but the results should be similar to all other stage 1 tunes.
With Active you have the option to pick any map from very conservative to super aggressive

since this thread is resurrected, id like to ask anyone who got any of these tunes installed, are you having traction issues with michelin PSS 275 on your rear? it seems like adding that much power to already sliding car will make it unmanageable

We had some customers with traction control problems due to the extra power
A quick a easy fix would be to limit boost on 1st and second gear using the Jb4 settings

Definatly going to have to do that and swap my 275 to the front and throw on some 285 re-71r's on the back for serious traction.

for people interested in the Active-8 tuner. I have nothing but good things to say about it. very noticeable power increase, NO thrown codes at all. only problem is traction. need to take traction completely off and modulate the throttle. the mdm traction coding is worthless. Many people with so called faster cars are in disbelief when I pass them.

Right now I have it set to the 93 octane map, if i remember its set to 6, which is about +5psi. i can raise it another couple notches for .3 psi extra for each notch. I have a 6 speed so you can imagine getting a good start is hit and miss with the wheel spin. I had all highway runs, in Mexico of course no other cars on road. 1st was a 2015 Corvette, Auto, didn't kill him but was steadily pulling away from him. Next was a 2015 Charger scat pack, sounded real nice, he didn't stand a chance, kept on pulling on him, he wouldn't give up, i got tired of wasting gas after the 4th time and just let him go.

I run Active 8 tuner on map 5 and consistently pull my friends M4 by half to full car length. He runs map 2 on JB4 and we both use 93 octane from same gas station. We both have catless downpipes and ER charge pipes.

My car is stronger in bottom end and mid range than his. He cuts the distance down in the top end. If I went back to map 6 I would have stronger top end. Andrew at AA told me max boost on map 5 is 21.7 and map 6 is 22 psi. Like how linear the power is with Active 8.

I daily drive on map 2, and traction was definitely sub-optimal on the stock MPSSs. Switched to 265/285 RE-71Rs and they are a big improvement. If/when they offer the RE-71Rs in 305, I'll be putting them out back.

Is it possible to lower boost below stock levels with the JB4? I like that it can add power of course but stock power is way too much in the snow. Its manageable but the slug of torque at around 2000 RPM is significant. For example, last night I was spinning the tires in 6th at 60 MPH on roads that were not all that bad.

Like I said, I managed it and drove around on very icy and snow-covered roads for 3 hours just fine but if I could switch maps to a low-output mode for those types of conditions it would make it even better. If not, so be it and I will continue to just use efficient throttle and short shift the lower gears.

I run the ActiveAutowerke Active8 and I constantly pull on JB4'd cars. There's plenty of them in Orlando for me to taunt and torture.

Yes you can lower boost with the Jb4

93oct on map 8. I'll probably turn it up to map 9. I haven't had any breaking up so I'll move it to map 9.

If it starts breaking up, I'll drop back to 8.

6MT or DCT? No misfires? Have you regapped spark plugs or still using factory plugs with factory gap?

You can place boost limits in gears 1-3 with the JB4, but I'm pretty sure you cannot reduce them below stock.
