Wow, congrats. only $4K over me (2017 and 13,200 miles). I'd say you got a great deal.

While a non-CPO version of your car might be found for 52-54k, a CPO cream-puff for that amount is a pretty good find, IMO. And congrats!

I'm also actively looking for a used f80 m3.
1. Is the comp pkg worth it on a 2018? 2. Also, is there any significant difference between the 2017 and 2018 models? I think the cpo cars have a 2-3k premium on them. I have never owned a used car before, so, a bit confused wrt the options. Thanks for the help.

In my case, there weren't any used M3's in my area with the comp package in the price point I wanted to pay, so I ended up buying without. This wasn't a big deal to me, because I am not a fan of the wheels, and plan on tuning the car. But there are plenty of people that love the wheels and want to stay stock, so wouldn't buy without comp. If I was going to stay stock, I'd want the comp package. If you want to stay stock, the extra warranty can be attractive to buyers. Personally, I'd have purchased my car without it being a CPO car. Regarding the differences, the headlights are different on the 2018, and there's a much improved Idrive update on the 2018 models (also on older 2017's). I purchased an early model 2017, so missed out on both these changes, and have a drive shaft that needs to be replaced due to a recall, but I am still happy with my purchase.

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1236532 So you just need to ask yourself if you plan on staying stock or doing some mods?

As stated above comp pack vs non comp vastly depends on what you value or what you plan to do to the car. The comp wheels alone if you like them are over $4k so for a 5k package that includes the wheels plus all the extras it is a good value.
It's not so much the minimal power difference IMHO as it is the increased traction and better handling. Simply adding a tune adjusts your power but does nothing for suspension/traction and handling. The exhaust is also much more refined and is a large improvement over stock non comp cars. Basically the comp packaged car is how the car should have been from the factory at launch and is the more refined version. That said, an //M is an //M and even a non comp pack car is a great vehicle. If you see yourself modding heavily and you don't care for the wheels, it may be best to pocket the difference. But as far as resale and future value, a comp packaged car will usually be the more preferred option on these vehicles. Best of luck in either case. You won't be disappointed either way. |
