For my ‘18 model 3, there were times the screen just went blank, and the door shutlines and some door trim needed to be redone. Neither was perfect! It’s just how cars are sometimes... |

I'll never say BMW is perfect and they have plenty of issues. But you're comparing mechanical issues after the fact vs. things that easily should have been seen with a simple visual inspection. Tesla's QC process is likely non existent, probably to cut costs and knowing their customers don't know or don't care. Let's be honest most people are not aware of the issues and when they are it's hard to get fixed or they just deal with it. |

When I can basically recharge an electrical vehicle in 3 minutes, like a has engine car, and be on my way pretty much anywhere you drive...maybe interested a little since I commute 22k miles a year.
Otherwise....no thanks to electric. Drove a Lexus CT200h for 1yr, great gas mileage and had hybrid setup but a complete dog for acceleration. Simple commuter vehicle to gas miser around. Brakes lasted forever and was bomb proof that little thing though. And no rattles.

Just picked mine up. The Tesla is fast af but the m4cs is still the car that puts a smile on my face. The Tesla does have major QC issues but most people buying the car are buying it for the technology.

I tend to like my cars a lot so I didn’t get bothered by the things I noted on either my model 3 or F80. If you think I’m a Tesla fan because I don’t complain about some door gaps at delivery, just wait until you hear about the kind of repair and maintenance costs I absorb for my Porsche and spec Miata. Lol. |

Picking up my model 3 performance on Saturday. Will keep the M3 until I find the right Gen 2 R8 V10 plus or maybe will wait for the 992 turbos to be out so I can scoop up a 991.2 turbo s at a cheaper price.
I mostly bought the model 3 for the self driving technology and hope it matures to a point where it can drive me to places when I don't want to deal with traffic.

I love the car. The badge is slightly off by a few degrees but they are coming to my house to fix it. Not a huge deal honestly but yes that should not happen. Other than that my paint is perfect I dont have any panel gap wind noise or anything else the early models suffered from. Tesla is listening and fixing issues as new models are released. I cant say that for BMW my f80 m3 suffered from creaky windy seals that made the car sound like it was falling apart and was not fixed the life of the model. My 135 suffered from broken charge pipes 435 same thing. They all have issues |

I had issues with my Model 3 P. Door alignment was off, some minor paint issues, missing a couple of clips on the trim panels, etc. Just all minor stuff. But I fixed most of that myself. Tesla fixed the other warranty stuff like alignment and a minor clunking sound. Even with all that I still love the car. Always put a smile on my face just like my F80 M3 does. Both cars are great and both will have their issues.

No one knows what SOC that M3P was at. After the last 5% power update 1/4 mile times have been in the 11.5s and 11.6s.
This makes no sense. My 2018 TTRS got destroyed by an M3P prior to the last 5% update. The lighter 2-door RS5 gets spanked by a stock TTRS. This is the heavier 5 door Sportback RS5. Not to mention CarWow already ran an M3P prior to the last 5% update and ran an 11.8 and the RS4 in that same race ran a 12.1. Something is off for sure...

Yes, some pieces used to be less than perfectly aligned on early cars, but it's all fluff stuff. Nothing that would detract from your driving experience and enjoyment. Quote:
Ended up putting 32K miles on it during 2-year least cycle, or way more than I thought I would be able to fit into my lifestyle. I hardly ever had to stop to charge it on the road - since its battery was always 100% full when I pulled out of my garage in the morning (plugged into L2 charger overnight). And the i3 only had 105 miles of range. Model 3P has batteries are good for 310 miles. Run the $$ #s! 22K miles of annual commuting would save you ~ $3.5K/year on gas vs. electricity, over driving a bimmer. In my case, savings covered the cost of the lease. Can you say a free car! Quote:
All comparisons to Tesla M3P always follow the same general script: TM3P leads off the line, then 500+ hp sedans eventually catch-up with it somewhere way north of 100+ mph. On track, Tesla M3P can post extremely impressive times for a few hot laps (will beat F80 CS lap times), but once the battery levels drops below <80%, performance starts dropping off. Which is a fact of life if you rely on batteries for power, no point in complaining about it. The bigger challenges for tracking Tesla M3P are its weight (~ 4,070 lbs), and the fact that one 30-minute track session will deplete the 75kWh battery by about 35-45%. So you can squeeze max 2 sessions out of the battery, but then need full recharge for the afternoon runs, and another one to drive home. For all practical purposes, that means you need an Tesla Super-Charger in the paddock. If you don't have one handy (or only have L2 chargers), you can't do max 2-3 sessions during one day (L2 charging time thrown in the middle). Not impossible, but definitely less than ideal. a

I picked up my Tesla Model 3 Performance 2 days ago. I have previously had an F80, as well as E92 M3.
From a “performance” standpoint, the Tesla blows both the M3s away. I do feel like the E92 M3 had a better balance, and of course the S65 was heaven. But these cars are worlds apart. Although I’ve only had it a very short while, it seems impossible for me to go back to an ICE car for a daily driver, especially one with a turbo. You don’t get the performance of an BEV, and the sound is nothing special, and often plain bad. AMA! |

Seems like not living in Ca affects the experience greatly. I have personally gotten model S 75D as a service loaner (from enterprise, via a code given by Tesla service center), and my colleagues have as well. There has also been “mobile service” coming to me for smaller things like sticking on the rear wing |

The cheapest tesla model 3 (base) lease is $19000 for 3 years and 30,000 miles. Plenty of used car options out there that will reliably, comfortably, and quietly get you from A to B without drama that would easily beat that out. And you get to keep your car at the end of 3 years. For a model 3 performance, with FSD, 15k miles a year, its an eye watering $35k for 36 months. For not much more you could buy a F80 M3 AND KEEP IT after 3 years. but yes new lease vs new lease. the tesla is attractive compared to the equivalent bmw.
