Guys, I recently got a 2017 M4 F83, I never hear Active Sound...... I have to open the windows to hear the exhaust sound otherwise it's completely silent in the cabin....
Has BMW removed Active Sound from the new models? |

1/ You need ESYS and *FULL* PSdZdata (see coding forum) 2/ I followed this guide here: http://www.bmwesys.com/guides/E-Sys%...CU%20Guide.pdf, everything went according to the guide You also need ISTA/D to check the faults and clear the fault code (see forum too, installation is rather straightforward but a little long).

Well it didn't change much on my side, tried to flash with ESYS with most recent PSdZData today, but flashing seems to last 4 seconds only... something must be wrong. And it still doesn't work, fault code has come back in ISTA.
Would appreciate if someone could check the above procedure and let me know if anything wrong.

If ASD was disabled by your dealer, you should write them a thank you note and send it along with a bottle of 12yo single malt.
I coded ASD off mine and it's a massive improvement.

I am glad you guys did it.
i just need some clarifications 1- The above mentioned idea will work on LCI cars having the issue? 2- Am i going to update to the latest shipment v60 now? or are we going to do a downgrade in the shipment? if we downgraded, what version of pszdata files we should use? -- if you please send me a more detailed instructions, however the flashing of the ASD module might not take one minute, it doesn't need a power supply, the battery can stand still. Thank you guys, and nice work!!! |

Alternate Solution ASD
Not sure if anyone is still looking for a solution to this, but if you're not comfortable flashing your own ECU, here is another option.
My ASD stopped working after software update to 18-03-530. ASD will be throwing a fault code as reported in multiple other posts. Ask your dealer to re-flash the car (most dealers will be unable to re-flash only one ECU and will have to reprogram the entire car). BMW has a technical notice out for Gxx-series cars acknowledging the ASD not functioning after software update. Now, this will still NOT solve the problem, because due to a bug in BMW's software, after re-program, there will be no faults but ASD is muted. The dealer can just go into ISTA and disable muting for ASD. And voila! ASD should be functioning as normal. |

Hello Guys,
I have a problem with downgrading ASD. I have a problem with downgrading to the older software. I have Esys 3.26 and data v54 When I try to flash ASD with this data Esys write "success" in green but the ECU software are still the same. It takes around a minute to flash it. Is the downgrading process different from just flashing the ASD? Also is it possible to flash 2017 ASD module with 2015 year psdzdata? Please advise. Logs from ESYS attached |

Hi Shawn, I downloaded psdzdata 3.55, could you assist me with a guide to downgrade flash the ASD ecu? I have the invalid coding error at the moment. I know since the model is new I will need to do the flash to an older version. Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
