I think he means for 93 octane (97-99 RON UK) there are 2 maps available, rather than you get both maps included.

No, you pick one. Additional maps are $100 for the S55 I think.

Correct...in fact for 93 octane there are three OTS maps. Stage 1, 2, and 2H (for upgraded turbos)

Also, going through the activation, can I perform this with a Mac, or is it specific to Windows? I didn't see it while reading.
S55 additional maps are $100. N55 is $50
Right now you can activate using Mobile App or Mac or Windows, but for the Closed-Beta OBD Unlock and Offline Flasher they're testing with Windows first.

CS, GTS are included for Free as these are factory OEM Calibrations, but PTF/OTS Map STG1 or STG2 is only one you can choose with future updates.

It's faster than bench flashing, bench flashing requires pulling the DME.

The pros to bench flashing is the ability to go truly back to stock, however this is a good solution for those who are scared to pull out the DME

Hey Guys. I think i'm gonna finally jump on BM3 (after the beta is finished) now that OBD unlock is here. The guys at PTF were great with my Cobb tuned N54 335is.

Ive been keeping up with all the threads from the 3 vendors that I would consider giving my money to.

Quick question. Whats the deal with "transferring" BM3 over to my next car (lease)? I am halfway through this lease and would like to use BM3 on my next 2019/2020 F82.

Thanks

May be a silly question but if we buy in now(which I have done) are we automatically in the beta program? Not really sure what that means outside of the entire feature set not being available quite yet but figured I would ask being that I paid already and am just waiting to get my car back. Thanks!

You can transfer ur license no problem. Just before returning ur current car you'd need to flash it back to stock and lock the DME. Then contact PTF to transfer your license to your new VIN once you get your new car.

No, you aren't automatically in the beta program. You'd have to request it. But I expect the beta to be over very soon. Not being able to join the beta means no OBD unlock and no Offline flasher until beta testing is done and they make it a public release (in 1wk maybe? )

No you're not. I did the same thing and tried flashing it but got an error. After emailing PTF, I was told that I'd need to be added to the beta and schedule time with PTF to go through the flash together. Since I have a service appointment next Tuesday, I just decided to wait as it should be out of beta then. Sounds like it's pretty easy to set up though if you don't want to wait. Just send an email to support@bootmod3.com

If I don't get in the beta program will I not be able to unlock the DME from the OBD port? Won't these features just become part of the normal product release?

Sorry if I am misreading your reply and this sounds silly. Wanting to fully understand if I will miss something not getting in the beta...I dont really care if i get in as long as I get the same feature set like the CS, GTS, and one OTS map plus the TCU map.

For those who are not joining the beta program, you will be able to get all those features currently in beta (OBD unlock + offline flasher) once beta testing is over. I have no idea when that will be, but my guess would be 1wk? But you wont be missing out on anything. If you don't wish to join beta testing you can wait a bit for the public release.

Other than those two things recently announced, you can use your BM3 and all of its other features just as normal as soon as u purchase it. Including the free maps and TCU.

I'm not sure if I can be more clear

That is very clear and I thank you. Your other statement was not so clear which led to my question.

As far as I'm read it and understand it'll be rolled out for all after the BETA testing stage.

I'm going to buy into it myself after the BETA test as at present I don't have the ENET cable anyway (ordered yesterday) so would be pointless for me regardless at moment.

I purchased last night, received my activation code, logged a ticket to request to be a part of the beta testing but, haven't received a response as to whether or not I was accepted. When can I expect a response about whether I was accepted into the closed beta?

Also, Im still not clear about how we could have access to the free maps if we are relying on the ability to unlock the DME through the OBD unlock process which is still part of the BETA program. Or, am I missing something on the ability to flash the free maps without unlocking the DME (which I assume is not possible)?

You can't flash the maps unless your either in the BETA testing and the OBD is unlocked, or your an existing customer who at some previous point has had the DME removed and unlocked the 'soon to be old fashioned way'.

So till you receive confirmation not much you can do at present bar wait. If your not successful or the delay in response due to all the messages takes a week or so you might find out by then BETA has ended regardless so everything will fall into place for you anyway to OBD unlock.

Once BETA is over, the unlock by OBD will be rolled out to all and you'll simply from what I read unlock the DME via OBD which takes about 4 minutes, then be able to flash the maps which are free + your chosen OTS map as and when you like or revert back to complete default and this will take around 1 minute and can be done offline as well.

Question

Why is it that bench flashing has the ability to go truly back to stock?

OBD doesn't provide this safety ?

What are any other pros to bench flash?
