The whole change the steering setting reminds me of his E60 M5 review where he was bashing it saying it was quick but not fast, but then he pushed the power button which in that car added 100 hp i believe.
It went from annoying to the very best..an M5 |

One of the coolest cars ever in one of the most entertaining/inspiring reviews ever. It was nice to see Jezza sweet talking the M3 but I can't say it was nearly on the level of his epic E60 M5 review.

An e60 M5 may be the worst to own bmw ever made... bcuz someone in munich thought it would be a good idea to put a v10 in a car that is first and foremost a daily driver. Maintenance costs equivalent to a race car, repair costs equivalent to a Nimitz class aircraft carrier, fuel consumption equivalent to an F350 dually towing a rig and then to top it off its plagued with the worst automated transmission ever made. That's before you even get into the depreciation costs where you can go buy them for a 1/4 of the new price w 40k miles. The car was a gimmick and a show piece... kind of like the Veyron... cool to say you have it and make noises every once a month when you can wind it out but it ended there.

While he selected it i8 over the M... at the end of the segment he admitted he wasn't happy with his choice not just because of the fuel consumption alone, there were a few other items.

keep in mind that the Top Gear track has had small improvements over the years that will result in faster laptimes so its not so clear cut on comparing track times now with ones several years ago. They have added concrete on some apexes to stop dirt from being put on the track. Not to mention the Stig is a different person than the last M. Jalopnik mentioned this enhancement when there was the Pagani laptime with slicks controversy

They usually just do 1 lap video per show of the 'lead off' car, in this case the AMG. They rarely do multiple reviews like this. He said the M3 was 4 seconds faster than the old car and I think the times eventually get posted online somewhere....with an episode as full as this one, something gets left on the cutting room floor so that would be the M3 track video here.

1:25.3 was the time from the E90 M3. JC said the F80 beats it by 4 seconds. So 1:21.3ish we think.

No way it was 1:21 . Do you really think that a F80 is faster than a 997 GT3RS or a ZO6 , R8 V10 on that track . Basically if the track has changed that much then the previous times have 0 meaning comparison wise .

It's just what JC said so....maybe for an inexplicable reason you are right and he lied about this. Or he said it and it was correct. Almost impossible to know which way to lean at this moment....

I do hope not. It'd be similar to when I see someone acting up from the same country I'm from- I cringe simply by association.

Yup, the equivalent of seeing a compatriot with a fanny pack, knee high socks and sandals shouting at the locals in English (because if they don't speak it but you talk REALLY LOUDLY AND SLOWLY they might understand....)

One of our neighbour kids got himself one a few months ago, look a lot like pyrite brown and he has some very deep dish wheels in BBS FI style and a really bad-ass exhaust on it. It's just as awesome now as when it was launched, maybe more awesome now due to the turn taken for new cars. Worst BMW ever to own? Just if ownership is all about the $$$. If it''s about driving a special car, it's the best BMW, ever. Different priorities Not getting one of these new (with warranty ) is my biggest regret in my car history.
