Even watching this I have trouble believing that a street car that is slower in a straight line than a G37 sedan and running on 235 series tires can run the 'Ring, which is a pretty high-speed track, faster than an M4. And the idea of it running faster than even an early R35 GTR is ludicrous.

Less brand snobbery and more appreciation that there are cheaper FAST cars out there for all types of budgets. I love hot hatches and am glad they are so great now....
Couldn't of said it better. Would the M3 beat the CTR around that track if driven properly? Most definitely. For it to perform so well I would say that's pretty impressive. I think people are just mad that they dropped 70K on the M3 and its getting beat by a Honda

Yes, lets compare tuned cars to a stock one, especially for track duty.

Yes, lets make fun of FWD cars that are stock for stock sitting 'in front' or even remotely close to an M3's time on any track.

Right.

Thanks for a great post. Slow

Anyways, aside from all the butt hurt hysteria in here, I came in here to relive all the old Honda Civic M3 days.

What bruh, you don't have ZCP....?

The Civic is a fast mofo, great car, can't be denied, but who here would cross shop these two and have notions of choosing a fwd Civic over an M3....unless you're goal is to run the Nurburgring in 7:50 or less or to have a car just to track, but again, if you're choosing a track car, would anyone really pick a fwd car to do it in as a hobby.

That's the only sticking point for me, an Ariel Atom is a great "track" car, would not buy that over an M4 either.

No matter what? I'm not sure you mean that. Well, maybe you do, but BMW doesn't currently sell a car that is "no matter what" in the same way that the Civic Type R is.
Bruh why u mad?

What fwd stock car are you talking about, not the Type R, nothing stock about it....any way whatever. I don't care, I'm never even going to drive the Nurburgring or race anyone at a track, and owning a 1000hp Civic that does whatever time faster than an M3 is very Fast & Furious part one, been there done that got the Tshirt.
The M3 is a better all around car and after your best lap in which you beat me by one second or whatever time I will still go home happy and much more comfortable.
Let's see, I have a choice....M3 or C63s or RS5....nah, I'll take that Civic Type R, it's faster around the 'ring by 3 seconds than all of them....GTFOH.

he's a good driver. It takes skills to hoon around. He was in a drift competition with professionals as well and did NOT come in last. That's impressive.

wrong - MDM would make you even slower, not letting you exit as quick as you can.

That's just a completely false statement.

PSS suck its all hype. Good performance for how long it lasts.

RE11's are superior.

In summary, the responses on here regarding this test....I feel like I'm on a HONDA FORUM. Grow up sheesh. M4 is a great car and I will pick it 10 out of 10 times over the CTR.

This just shows the capabilities of the CTR.

This is the best magazine racing thread I've ever seen. Ppl who don't even track talking about what's faster and what's not. MDM is the fastest way around the track?

I've read it all now.

Go enjoy your cars!

Under no circumstances should a production Honda Civic beat an M3/4 around a track.
And who's to say it actually will. Until I see real times and not these, I will reserve judgement. But besides that, you can go get a Mustang and give the M3 fits, doesn't mean I want to own one.

Not to mention I don't honestly care what beats the M3, I bought it for my own reasons.

I'm glad the Japanese are starting to become a little more concerned with performance again, maybe we will get back to the early to mid '90's again.

And burn off how much quicker? You don't think Michelin can make a tire to blow the doors of the RE11's if they weren't trying to keep some sort of life in them?

The bottom line is that the M3 should have creamed both hatches even with the traction nannies off

The CTR is stock. It's got a 300hp turbo charged engine...from the factory. Hence stock.

Just like the hellcat, from the factory it's modded to the max like its aftermarket vs a stock m3.. Let BMW max out the m3 and it will destroy these cars. Would rather have an m3 vs a CTR especially for daily use since you're not at the track 24/7.

but the pss is not though right? I melted my wife's pss in one session. they just suck for any "performance" driving.

now they are on my wife's car for a reason. long lasting pretty good grip but great wet performance in her rwd 135i.
