on everyone saying they will get Akras on the new m3/4....aren't the MPEs made by Akra now? or will there be a BMW tax, or do you think Akra's agreement with BMW stipulates that no Akra kit for the BMW will be allowed. hmm...

My guess is that MPE will be cat back only and that Akra on their own will be offering a full line with cat delete.

The best I've gotten with F10 M5 on street Michelin PSS 0-60 was 3.8 seconds.
So this thread is saying that a stock F10 M5 without Comp Package is still faster than the new M3/M4 0-60 time of 4.2 seconds? Just doesn't make sense, since the new M3/M4 is like 900lbs lighter than the M5. Oh well, I'll just be happy with my 4,400lbs whale.

M5 does 0-200 in 12.3s vs 13.4 in M3
M5 does 0-250 in 21.3s vs 23 in M3 M5 does 1/4 mile in 11.6s @ 122 mph vs 12.2 and 118 mph in M3. I have no idea where these M3 is faster comments are coming from. All these numbers I posted are done by amateurs using stock cars with no track radials. Its apples to apples comparison. The OP did all of this in 80F weather, that is nothing really in fact, its the best temperature for the PSS tires. The thread is not about skidpad, or nurburgring times, or handling. Its about vbox and straightline speed, period. And M3 is not faster than M5, in any of these categories (even the 0-100 based on OP's 4.2s). Now also remember, these are all from a dig, do some 20-30 mph pulls and you'll see the M5 putting 2-3 bus lengths to the M3 before they reach 100mph. The comparison conversation is happening because prospective M3 owners kept saying "its faster or as fast" as the M5. There were many posts here made by various people making this claim. Based on these numbers, M3 is putting 455hp crank whereas M5 CP is putting over 650hp. Thats almost 50% more power between two cars. The results are as expected. M5 is extremely underrated by over 75hp. M3 maybe 30hp. |

He missed the part about the car having drag radials and a tune.

It would be awesome if the M3/M4 was able to do that on stock tires but I doubt that. |

Jokes on you buddy. I was the first person to know that Greentrbo95gst put DR's on his M5. Too bad he did the race in wet conditions though. With dry conditions I'm sure his quarter mile time would have been slower.

Hi, actually I have ATS 19 inches superlight wheels at ~20 lbs front and ~21 lbs rear ~20 lbs savings vs zcp), and I just got the Essex AP Racing Competition BBK kit installed, which saves 38 lbs across all 4 corners due to lighter calipers, slightly smaller rotors, and two piece rotor design w/hat. PFC and other AP racing kits also offer some weight savings but probably not as large as the Essex kit..so I just assumed 45 lbs total for unsprung weight reduction, though actually I have saved 58 lbs of unsrpung weight.

We never had a reason to troll until all the crazy talk about M3's and M4's being faster in the straightline than an M5 by some of you nice M3 folks. Then that's when some of us M5 dudes decided to have fun. It's all in good fun though. Truth is, I still think the new F80 M3 and F82 M4 are fantastic cars, and I wish I could have one too. But unless I'm going to the racetrack every weekend, it makes no sense to downgrade. I envy the lucky few of us out there in the world who will get a chance to own both an M5/M6 and an M3/M4 at the same time. I'll be the first to admit that the M5 is too heavy for the track and is too fast for the street. The F8x M3/M4 seems like a more sensible compromise today.

Some kind of alarm must have sounded in the M5/6 kingdom alerting its privileged denizens that a few uppity M3/4 owners-to-be were boasting of an on par straight-line performance to their weighty and mighty steads. So a few brave knights donned their CP armour and raced over to quell the rebellion and restore the rightful order of things here in M world.
Fear not brave knights. God is in his heaven and everything is indeed all right with the world. The straight-line prowess of your horses has been unsullied by us folks of lesser M's. No blasphemy has been committed. You may return to your own M world on your weighty, speedy, and opulent stallions with our peaceful wishes. Or please fak off.

I know, but I can't but feel I'm about a post and half away from being banned along with some other M5/M6 peeps. Lol!
Alright I'll call off the hounds.
