I contacted Dinan about purchasing a second hand unit and this is what they said, this was to help me, you and a future buyer. I'm sure you already registered your vin when you purchased it, so it would need to be registered again with the new owner.

Quote:
The unit would function fine on a second car but there would be no warranty on your vehicle. The warranty is tied to the original VIN it was installed on. There technically is a way to get warranty on a used kit but ultimately all you would be saving is $500 off purchasing a new kit to begin with. So unless you are getting the used unit for essentially nothing it typically isn't exactly a sound value proposition.

This DinanTronics hasn't been registered and this Piggyback remains sealed in it's original static free bag.

How does one go about buying a Dinan piggyback without it being assigned to a VIN? Honest question, curious. Thanks

The DinanTronics isn't registered until the owner or shop doing the install goes to: https://decus.dinancars.com/decusinfo.php and enters the MAC address of the device and enters the buys VIN and etc.

Since its. NIB and never been registered can't you send it back to Dinan for a refund?

Or send it back to them at lower than full price return??

Eventually, later on, what tune are you "thinking" of installing in your car?
Lots of great tunes to choose from for less the price. I would still prefer Dinan because of the warranty but for the price and power/torque one gains, I can understand why people are going with other alternatives.
