Can a spare fob be re-coded for a different car?

Bear with me - this is a long-ish story

My M4 was stolen about a month ago, and I'm getting an insurance payout for it.

During the break in, they also stole my wife's main fob (she has an M140i).

So now I'm left with her secondary fob (BMW has already deactivated the main fob), and the secondary fob from my M4.

Do you think I can get BMW to recut the key and program the M4's fob so that it works with the M140i, and I will end up having 2 keys again?
