CCB Noise Remedy List

I want to start a thread with things people have tried to reduce the noise from the CCBs. Also I'd like for everyone who doesnt have noise to chime in. Add Number of track days also.

I'll go first. FYI I had 0 brake noise before taking my car to the track...
Track days: 3
Noise: High Pitched squeal during normal braking, some squeal during slight steering inputs
Remedy 1: (Unsucessful) BMW Dealer Lubed the rotors
Remedy 2: A local race shop is going to try applying caliper grease to some of the pad fittings and an adhesive for the back of the brake pad to the caliper pistons. This didnt work!

Remedy 3: WORKED! Retrofit Porsche anti-rattle discs into the caliper pistons. Cut down on noise by at least 75% I'm very happy so far with the result, and the discs fit pretty perfectly.

i drive around wearing these:

The noise does get annoying at times in stop and go traffic if the brakes are still cold. I've tried a couple of runs going from 40-0mph to warm them up a bit and that has helped somewhat.

I hate the squeal from the CCBs. Really starting to bug me. Definitely the worst thing about the car.

Never had a single squeal/noise. Granted, my car has never been tracked.

Update.
An indy shop near me greased all the fittings. It still squeals pretty badly. More so when im not even braking.

I had no squeal before tracking the car. My theory is that once i tracked the car i ate away at some of the thickness of the brake pad. This caused movement of the pad in the caliper and thats whats causing the problem.

Same here. No noise before tracking.
I may have to buy new pads for the street and swap them for track season.

Never tracked...but with steering inputs to left, relieve high pitched whine from front right wheel area. Occurs at low and high speeds. Only when I turn left and noise comes from front right. But will occur at highway speeds while accelerating too. Have a video of me going 50-60mph and the squeak is very constant.

Will try noise sound canceling headphones to see if that works next...ugh

Update:
My shop used ceramic grease on all the fittings. Initially it made no difference but now i have no noise during braking which is an improvement.
I still have the noise youre describing. It's simply the pad moving around in the caliper housing.

And there is no remedy?

Seems like even strong stops from high speed don't help either. Weird that it only happens when I turn left and only front right. Why not when I turn right and from the front left?

For the non braking noise i dont believe there is a remedy. Stock pads didnt make this noise because they had full thickness and didnt move around much.

Once i tracked the car and wore down some of the pad there was more play and room for vibration.

Dealership just replaced front pads and didn't make a difference. Squealing is still there. Perhaps something different not related to CCBs?

Video of noise coming from front right...

BMW has opened up a "PUMA" case regarding this but initially wanted to chalk it up to CCB expected noise.

I'll try to upload in better definition but invisibly squeak can be heard at 50-60mph

I spoke to a few people who have a lot of experience with other manufacturers CCB kits.
I was told that the main reason for noise is that the Ms dont use what Porsche calls anti rattle discs.
You push them into the pistons first, then peel off the backing paper to expose the adhesive, then drop the pad in place and press on the brake pedal, to make them adhere to the pads.

We need to find the diameter of the MCCB pistons. Porsche makes these discs in almost every size.

Drives me nuts. I don't even have to be braking to hear the constant squeal at speeds ranging from 5-35 mph.

Do you have a pointer to these parts? Might help to make track pads a bit more street friendly. (e.g remove the 'clack' when changing direction and possibly even get rid of some of the squeal when braking at low speed?)

I will have an update to this on saturday. It can be done!

I bought the parts from Paragon products. I installed the discs on one front caliper for testing, they snapped right into the pistons. I'm doing the other 3 saturday, and will report back.
Note: It's COLD so theres going to be more noise than usual regardless, im still hoping this eliminates 75% of the noise.

Front Piston Diameters
30mm
34mm
36mm

So since theres 6 pistons on each front caliper you need 2 of each diameter per corner.

Rear Piston Diameter
28mm on all 4

So you need 8 28mm discs.

It's not cheap, this "fix" (if it works) will have cost me $204 in parts, and about $400 in labor.

Like I said we shall see on Saturday.

I actually have the steel brakes - but I'm running Endless MX72 pads and, whilst the brake feel is superb, the squeal is pretty bad. (other people seem to have no noise problems with these pads)

Any idea what the piston sizes are for the steel brakes?

PS. If this works then looks like ECS Tuning may carry them a bit cheaper...
