Trying to find/build a fully equipped M3
Been planning to buy a M3 since June and trying to build a "perfect"/fully equipped M3.
Starting from a 2016 M3, would swapping the head unit/screen with an iDrive 6 unit essentially make it identical with a 2018 M3? (And there's the M3 seat light-up logo change also) https://www.mdecoder.com/decode/p966878 This one has all the packages except connected drive (and ZCP which I don't need and is out of my price range), and almost all other options. I was wondering if I can do custom coding to enable most of the "missing" options: ZTO ConnectedDrive Services Professional w/ARTTI
5DP Park Assistant This one seems to need 2 sensors and additional modules, I can take a pass on this one 6NS Convenience Telephony with Smartphone Connectivity Internet says this one adds an additional microphone on passenger side, which some people says is standard on MY16 anyways; The coding part can be done 8TH Speed Limit Info This car comes with Technology Package (HBA, blind spot detection, driving assitant) so it should have the KAFAS camera, can this be coded? Otherwise this car seems to have all other packages Just don't want to make the mistake of buying a car and afterwards realize that "I should've gotten one with xxx option", thanks for your time! |

Buy a 2018 M3 I’m just saying!
Too me ,, I think it would save you a lot of headaches .. it sounds like a nightmare. I think you’ll spend a lot of money to make it work,(maybe) and there will be a lot of glitches. If a newer car is too much, then wait. If your did your homework, then go for it! My 2cents ...

The iDrive swap from codemybimmer seems straight forward so the upgrading 2016 to 2018 thing should be fine Just wondering if the car wasn't ordered with connected drive, I can still pay to enable it right? |
