What triggers a service request to dealer?

Obviously service intervals based on time or use, but I had my F80 "dob" me in for brake fluid - at 20k. Is it because the brake service interval has been reset 3 times? Surely there's no other sensor other than fluid level and pad wear indicator?

It's got a condition based servicing program that looks at how you drive and engine parameters etc to decide on "when". You can reset it and tell it you've done a service though - not sure why you would though. It also does things by time too as brake fluid can absorb moisture and get air in it reducing its effectiveness and making your brakes feel spongey.
