Had the fifth year service done on my car today at a BMW dealer and thought it could be helpful for others to get some prices on things once the maintenance plan is over. My car is a low mileage example so yours may vary.

Engine oil and filter change $150
Engine intake air filter $250
Brake fluid change $200

10,700 after five years? That equals 2140 per year or 178 per month! I don't know how to keep miles off mine even with a secondary car. I'm a
2016 with 42,000. Seems like I'm constantly looking for excuses to go somewhere in mine.
Very impressive!

Actually my PSSs were worn after ED so I replaced them with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 in the spring of 2015.

I used to live in a suburb in Iowa and loved driving it around but now in Chicago it's tough.

Have a X3 for winter. Use the train daily for work commuting, ride share on the weekends and walk in between. And for work sales meetings I rent a car.

Yes it's rough to be a car enthusiast in Chicago but I like the challenge to wake up early on the weekends and go for a nice drive.

Where are you located? Dealers in the SF Bay Area charge 200+ for oil and filter. I guess they assume we all work in AI and tech related fields....

Ando, I completely understand now. I already cringe when it is Love Bug season here in Florida, I couldn't imagine it as a daily in a Chicago winter.

My Indy shop charged $99 for a brake fluid flush.

I change the oil myself, parts come to around $85. Dump oil at local county recycling cent$30er 5 miles from house.

Done the cabin filter for $25.

Have not done the air filters but should be simple enough minus taking the strut brace off.

My indy shop changed my diff fluid for $30. Got the factory fluid from getbmwparts.com for $70 or something to that effect.

Indy shop also changed my manual transmission fluid. Got the fluid from getbmwparts.com for cheap also.

This is how it’s done if you have a good Indy shop.

These are VERY good Indy shop prices for labor, better than most considering you are bringing them the parts/fluids. Some Indy shops are not keen on using customer supplied parts as it does cut into the Indy shop's profit margin a bit depending on what the parts are. But all of this depends on the relationship you have with your Indy shop so YMMV. All that said, a good Indy shop that does quality work with fair prices on labor and/or parts is worth its weight in gold when it comes to the jobs you don't want to DIY.

Of course, if you don't mind having a few more tools in your garage (and getting your hands a little dirty with some more DIY), including a residential style lift like the QuickJack, doing all of the stuff you listed and more yourself can be very rewarding.

Not my car, but have this setup in my garage to do all sorts of DIY work (and not just on my M3, but the other family cars as well)....
