Traded my M4 for a 911 (991.1 C2S 7MT)
After owning my M4 for 3+ years I have decided to give the 911 a try.
I originally bought the M4 as an all rounder, but now my wife and I have Jeep as a 2nd car so I don't need to dilute performance with practicality sooooo... it's 911 time! I bought a 991.1 Carrera S with manual transmission and I have to say it's an absolute blast to drive. Very different than the M4, car feels a lot lighter lower and more sporty. Also the NA engine is a real treat compared to the S55. The last 3 cars I've owned were turbo and it's nice to drive an NA car again (I have nothing against turbos). As far as sportiness and performance go, the 911 has the M4 beat on all counts save for torque. And man oh man does the NA 3.8l engine sound amazing. I had the MPE on my M4 and I always thought it sounded great but the flat six sound in the 911 is in a league of its own. Really the only thing I miss from the M4 is the technology, the PCM 3.1 system in my C2S definitely feels dated but I will say that the 911 is such an engaging car I don't really care to mess around with the tech features, I really just want to get in and drive as much as possible. Anyways I'll still be lurking on this forum but I did want to mention that if anyone bought my old car ('15 MG/SS 6MT VIN: WBS3R9C57FK330996) I can provide you with records including all the in between oil changes that I have done and a list of installed parts.

nice. those are a step up for sure. and i too like the 991.1 better. the 991.2 turbo engines make the newer cars perform better but they're much less fun in every way. plus, what the hell are we supposed to call the Turbo now that every 911 is turbo??

Yea, definitely hard wheels to clean but I think they look great. Thankfully I have a pressure washer and combined with the chemical guys wheel cleaner gel it works wonders without the need to scrub.

Congrats. Car looks fantastic. I have a 991.1 base manual and it's a blast. I also have the AWE xpipe. The flat 6 sounds vicious especially on the rev match downshifts. You're going to love it.

Congrats and MT as well!
I'm completely undecided what I'm going to get for my next DD in a year or so, but a 911 or the M2 Competition are both on my list.

that's a completely different price range, unless you're talking about a used 911 vs. a new M2
all i have to say about used 911 is "buy carefully". I got a garage queen from a good friend and it has eaten up more than it's share of my car maintenance budget in the last year. |

I suppose, but the M2 competition with the S55 really seems like it will be a sweet car. I've always had sedans for a DD and don't really want the attention of a 911. Cost is not an issue for me; they are both in my range. However, the Porsche option system drives me a bit bonkers, so I probably would go with a lightly used 991.2 S or GTS.

My 911 actually doesn't attract too much attention. |

If it was a GT3 then sure, but I think the C2 and C2S are relatively common in the NYC area, but YMMV depending on where you live.

+1
In CA, my white f80 blended in with the other 3er and German cars but when I drove from SC to CA there were many parts of the country where it really stood out As an aside, the setup of the 911 matters a lot I think. Mine has a really loud exhaust and as a result has a harder time going under the radar |

After the m3, it's a 911 turbo or Nissan GTR. I have no desire for anything else.. unless the next bmw m3's awd system is badass.
