M Performance Midpipe + Stock ZCP Muffler
Hi everyone!
It's been one year since I bought my first M car an M4 F82 Competition and now I feel like it's time to change the sound of the car. I live in Europe so my options are very limited (emission regulations, noise level etc), so I have just a few exhaust systems or axle backs to choose from Although yesterday EezyBeezy gave me a very good idea. I didn't know that the M Performance midpipe was compatible with the stock ZCP muffler. That midpipe would not delete the secondary cats (important due to emission regulations), it's an h-pipe so it would give some sound and the stock muffler would remain in place. I checked yesterday and the midpipe would cost me 3k brand new. Does anybody run this setup? Some sound clips would be very much appreciated! |

It won't fit without major modification to the muffler to midpipe section.
You could gut your stock secondary cats. This would allow a visual inspection to yield normal/no modifications. Your car also should still pass emissions if your primaries are in tact.

Hm...
Do you have any idea what should I do? I would keep the stock downpipes, I just need a midpipe or a setup which would retain the secondary cats. At the inspection they also rev the car till 75% of the rpm range, they measure the sound from 0,5 meters and the car cannot be louder than 101 db... I have a feeling that I'm doomed and the only option what I have is an axle back. By the way, does an axle back exhaust make the car louder? Or it changes just tone of the exhaust? EDIT: I'm located in Europe. Last edited by ClearMinded; 10-13-2023 at 04:02 PM.. |
