Help with WGDC on datalogs

Hello all,

Trying to see if anyone has any insight on why my WGDC 1 and 2 are often running so high? They are running at 99% even when I am not hitting the gas and when boost is over 20psi they seem to drop down to the lower 90s.

Is this normal, and why is it that my MAP only goes up to 22.4 psi, but my tune is supposed to be around 28? I am pretty new to this so please excuse my ignorance.

Details

18' M4 comp
PJT Stage 3 tune 93 gas.
Hub
Fully-Built engine
PS2 HF
MPE
AA mid
EU5 injectors
CTS charge and J
CSF TMIC
CSF DCT cooler
CSF intercooler
Delphi coils
97506 gapped 0.020
CTS catted DP high flow
Open air intakes BMS

Smoke test has been done but no leaks were found.

The car runs extremely well and isn't misfiring anymore.

Any advice is much appreciated.

I had this issue and one of my turbos was blown. I only noticed once it was completely gone but I belive if I was logging more i would have noticed what you are seeing. Any oil coming out of the housing?

Try doing datalogs from 3500-6500 in 3rd and 4th. Turbos seem to spool slowly but hard to tell..

Try to do a pressure test with 30psi. Some leaks only appears with boost.
Looks very lazy, taking forever to build boost and very high wgdc.

What makes you say they are taking forever to build boost?
I’m most concerned on how they are running at 99% during normal driving

I bet one of the turbos is on the way out and the other is overcompensating and taking longer to build boost. at limited throttle you are getting 100% because the pressure is bleeding out the bad one. Just a guess but sounds similar to what I just went though.

The turbos are both basically brand new though. The wgdc is 99% whole driving 15mph throughout the city in efficiency mode… it doesn’t make any sense and the car is blistering fast.

Your WG is supposed to be at 100% during normal driving and during spool up. If the WG was open, boost pressure would not build and the car would drive very lazy.

During full throttle driving, your WG does look a little high for that given boost pressure. Usually that is caused by a boost leak. A smoke test doesn't necessarily determine if you have a boost leak unless you actually pressurize the system.

I recommend boost leak testing at least 5 psi above the boost pressure you plan to run.

Thank you for this information! I’ll see if my local shop can do a pressurized smoke test. I was worried that my turbos were both faulty as normal driving they were at 99%

I have full boost at 4700rpm on old style PS2+ that is known as very laggy. Yours PS2HF should in theory spool way earlier than that.

99% WGDC is completely normal during cruise and WOT until you reach target boost.

Thanks for this information that helps put my mind at ease. I am not even sure what my peak boost is on the tune as my MAP never goes above 22.4 but I know PJT says I am at around 27.5. The response actually doesn’t feel too bad but yes a little laggy. It could be part of the tune as well.

You need to look at channel "(RAM) Boost Pressure (Target)" to check the actual boost target.

Thanks so it looks like my boost target is actually around 25psi or so. Is MAP psig what my actual boost is? If so that never goes above 22.4
