Sort of like Porsche charging more for the coupe Cayman than the roadster Boxster.

wow really good base price!

probably have to wait a year though because most dealers will do a 10% markup right?

And I think it's always been the case with BMWs with the 6 getting the biggest price addition over the sedan ( 5-series ).

Nice, i'm glad they stayed within that price point. If this comes with Navi standard, then it's def a good price point.

Minimalists are going to do well if ordering an M3 with no options. My baby is a thoroughbred civic M3 and I wouldn't have it any other way

Cant wait to see these being delivered. Will have to compose myself in front of the new M3, it will be a sight to be seen I'm sure

Ah, you mean bespoke as in built for only one model.

66k units is a huge number of s65's made for a specialty engine; that was my point.

Here's a compare: In 2007/2008, Audi sent a total of 1,314 RS4's to the U.S.. Let's say 2x that total globally.That was a direct e9x m3 competitor.

In 2007, Porsche produced 1900 GT3s or GT3RS's.

Aa bit closer to the price point and "bespoke" engine mentality, 18,685 Acura NSX's were made from 1991-2005.

...

The e9x m3 was very very popular. These cars moved mass market.

IMO $70k-$75k CAD is more likely to be the range of the base car in Canada. A well option vehicle will likely be in the $85k-$90k range (even more with CCB)

My well optioned E92 with DCT came out at $87k in 2008 before delivery charges and taxes. Further, taxes went up by 3% in Quebec since 2008 .

Hopefully some of the savings from the Canada-EU free trade agreement will see its way to the consumers.

hhhhmmmm that's a pretty good deal. Wonder how much the CCB's are going to be, that might be around $10k so a decked out F82 will be almost $90k. Option for option though, I think BMW did an excellent job, especially considering all the new tech in this car.
F82 base: $63,750

pulled the prices below from the F32:

Lighting package: $1,900
Driver Assistance Plus: $1,900

Executive Package doesn't exist, but it has most of what the F32 Cold Weather Package ($700), Drive Assistance Package ($950), and Premium Package ($2,200) has. Let's say BMW gives us a bit of a break and prices it at $3,500

Extended Leather is probably going to be at least another $1,000

DCT was $2,900 on the E92

Adaptive M suspension - again EDC was $1,000 on the E92

19" wheels were $1,900 on the E92 M3

HK on the F32 is $875

So all of that = $78,725

CCB is likely a $10k option on top of that so $88k total is my guess, it could be plus or minus a few grand depending on how the Exec package is priced. Keep in mind there are a few other things I didn't include like the sunshade, side and top view cameras, concierge services, smartphone integration and parking assistant, so these things could potentially reach $90k sticker.

I don't think base price is as bad as I thought. Considering my 335i was $57.000, I'd definitely love an M3 at the invoice price for 57k.

Yeah, I understand how the exchange rate and general 'cars cost more up here' thing works. I am mentally extrapolating those numbers to what it should cost here and, more importantly, comparing the cost of this car in $US to what else is available for those dollars (which usually translates across the border)

The question in my mind is a relative one: what else can I get here for "M3/M4 like" money? On that standard, it is still, as I said, about the best bang for my buck (or loonie) around.

I agree, with every generation of M3, BMW targets at getting more and more sales. Interestingly though the E9X sold less than the E46 M3...

Still, the S65 cannot be considered as a high volume engine.

Note: the 4.2 engine in the RS4 also saw duty in the R8 and it was heavily based on the standard 4.2 Audi V8.

I think 19 inch wheel upgrade will be around $1200.
Even on new M5, upgrading 19 inch to 20 inch wheel costs only $1300.

Extended leather will probably costs around $3000 since it now covers dash and etc.

You could be right, esp since it's now Merino leather. I also have this sinking feeling the Exec package might be $4,500

No Competition package guys.

They priced it right with the times and with the evolution of the car. Sadly, $70K is a huge difference from 10 years ago where and E46 M3 would've cost $55K and this reduces the amount of potential customers that'd like to acquire the M3/M4.
If you take inflation into account (http://www.usinflationcalculator.com), a car that costed $55K in 2004 would cost $67,860.22 today, so if $55k was the base price for the E46, the new M4 is actually a great bargain at $63K.

Maybe the 'rule' is how many seats? 2 and 2+?
