ESS T-500 Flash Tune, ER Downpipes, 107F weather

Summer is here, those in SoCal have known we've been hit with some record breaking temperatures lately in the middle of a heat wave. However, that haven't slowed down M3/M4 owners wanting to mod.

Here's a quick dyno of a recent ESS T-500 Flash, equipped with Evolution Racewerks downpipes.

Vehicle
2015 BMW M3
Transmission: DCT
Octane: 91

Modifications
ESS T-500 Flash Tune
Evolution Racewerks Catless Downpipes

T-500 Optional features
[ X ] Catless/CEL removal
[ X ] Top Speed/VMAX removal

M3 was in, flashed, dynoed and returned same day. Note that the shop was over +107F inside, and we're still seeing favorable results.

Thanks again Tom and the EAS crew! The car runs extremely smooth and the power gained throughout the powerband feels awesome. Even with the extreme heat we were still making gains after each run

This was during the first tuning session. Temps were about 10+ degrees cooler, but still made less power.

During our recent tuning session, temperatures were substantially warmer, yet we still made power gains over the first session.

Stock filters, ECU is opened up to access bootloader, we can knock these out rather quickly now. OBD2 flashing will be an option down the road.

Stock tunes have the same "dip" down low, here's a before/after with the ESS E-Tronic as reference:

We should see some smoothing with adaptation/miles driven.

Appreciate your review! Let's do a follow up once the weather cools down.

EAS, would the obd2 flashing that is coming require initial opening of the ECU?

Yes, ECU needs to be bench flashed on the initial file reading/loading to bypass encryption. Later down the road, flashing via the OBD2 will be an option.

It's amazing progress has been made so quickly, OBD2 access wasn't even an option on the E9X platforms until it was already a few years in production.
