So you did the full ESS flash and not just the backend flash which is what this thread is specifically about?

Maybe clutch overheated? Were you doing back to back pulls? I don't think it has anything to do with the flash. No one has tables to the DKG yet afaik.

Also the design of the DCT is stupid. No way to put the car intro neutral without engine start. You have to jack up the car and then use an 8mm socket to take out the cover under the trans pan and push up the park lock to put into neutral.

it is a rainny day.super cold.huge rain.
i was cursing 80mph on freeway and car suddenly lose all power, first i just think it is limp mode,i was told the car is smart,it can protect it self.so i made a full stop and restart the car,the lights are gone. so i think i am ok,and go to the road again and drive about 2 mins, suddenly car lose power again. transmission mulfunction show up,chasis stablization, auto start/stop mulfunction lights show up.i pull to the road side again anssit in the car waiting for bmw road side waiting road assistance for 2.5 hours. they play games on me,called a tow truck and then cancell the order. finally my friends come to pick me up.that sucks. even on dash the screen that shows gear remain empty. gear select doesnt show the car at natural. that is horriable day for me and my m4

Okay. I have a feeling it's not that big of a deal especially if the car was shifting just fine before. My guess it's a sensor that maybe be faulty.

Edit: I just reread what you said. If you got limp mode first then it's something related to that. The transmission malfunction is probably a secondary fault related to the actual limp mode error.

I don't think it's flash related either, maybe it has to do with the event your were at before it happened yesterday. I am assuming if you participated in it, I think that type of hard driving may have caused it even though these cars are made to take that kind of driving. I'm just guessing but either way good luck on the fix bud!

Could be just your car this time around. Lots of Ms have been to the track and made it back with no problems being DCTs. Either way it sucks to get stuck out and have to be towed.

We'll have a better idea once codes are read, limp mode is one of many critical safety measures in place, so the DME (and TCU) are doing their jobs.

Just sent you a PM, please keep me in the loop.

So has anyone tried this yet? EAS, what is the labor cost involved?

Does this raise the fueling table limitations w/ JB4 at all?

Yes, the backend flash will allow the JB4 to better help reach the target range on the fueling side.

Labor is about a couple of hours to remove and install the DME, afterwards - it wil remain unlocked for flashing via OBD2 if needed, as well as diagnostics.

I'd like to see more testing on this as well.
ESS is a reputable tuning company but I doubt that this has been tested with all the piggybacks on the market like Dinan, Active Autowerke etc... to see what it really can do.
Not saying its not worth it...just need to see more feedback
