Accident damage/ respray? Painted f80 door rubbers
This post is on behalf of a good friend of mine.
He noticed these rubber pieces in his front door reveals are painted blue. On my mineral grey f36 they are unpainted (see pic) On his friends silver f80 they are painted, however we know that car has been resprayed. Please could you share your thoughts on this? How do these pieces look on your F8X? |

Most definitely overspray. That door panel was either repaired or replaced and painted. You can even see the rubber trim is painted ymb on the vertical part but bare rubber on horizontal

My initial thoughts just wanted a second opinion. Also it's both front doors. Carfax is clean and he knew the previous architect owner. Not a young thug etc

I agree, it’s overspray. Unfortunately, a clean Carfax doesn’t mean it’s accident free. I had a s2000 that was rear ended and the accident was never logged and the repair went thru insurance (other guy was obviously at fault). Carfax was still clean even after four years.

That’s either a strange accident or a severe accident to damage both doors. If it drives well and shows no other signs of damage, I’d try to convince myself that it was something minor like both doors getting keyed otherwise it’d drive me crazy!

I've done some paint correction on the trunk and rear bumper. The car is very straight. I normally notice repairs but I saw no evidence. Maybe we will never know

You could use a paint gauge on your car and compare to his car. My car is under a cover, otherwise i would check if mine was painted or not.
New cars also get fixed if they were damaged during transport and its never reported since it was done in house. Whats weird is the rust on the head of that bolt on your car most likely indicates it was adjusted or repaired... You only get rust when someone puts a wrench to it... I dont know what to tell you except worry about more important stuff... |
