DME swap

What does one need to do when they swap DME? Will VIN and other DME readout information auto configure?

2020 S55 engines (M2c & M4) with certain production dates DME locked and no unlock support available at the time. Seems to be very low priority for BM3 to address this issue as they're too busy working on G8x flatforms.

I hear the options are 1) send to Russia for bench unlock 2) swap DME with older year.

Currently thinking of buying a 2016-2018 DME and do the swap myself. Was wondering what kind of issues I will run into.

You can't just swap a DME from the same type of vehicle due to identifying information in the DME needing to match the rest of the car. Your "option 2" is the only way for cars with S55 DME's produced in 7/2020 or newer.

I've helped numerous 6/2020+ S55 DME owners get a cloned and unlocked DME so they can tune.
