BMW Assist and MyBMW Remote app

I was always told that you can only have one vehicle per email address, by I had the dealer register the M3 to the same address I use for the X5M, thinking it would just replace X5, but when I logged into the app both vehicles are there, and I can switch between them to control the available functions. So now there is no need to register multiple email addresses if you have more than one compatible BMW.

You can:
Send a destination to the nav, from Google maps on your phone.
Lock the car
Unlock the car (requires a call to BMW Assist)
Honk the horn
Flash the headlights
Turn on the comfort feature of the climate control

You can try to do things like flash the lights or honk the horn and then have the command fail over and over again. I've tried so many times to get BMW to get it to work and it doesn't.

This app is awful - I had it on my 650i as well as my M4 and its really badly conceived IMO. I never use it these days which is probably just a s well given the opportunity for distraction looking at FB while driving

BMW Remote not working for me either. Spoke to 3 BMW people already and was told to wait an hour. Waited and tried, but no luck.

My horn, lights, and climate control work perfectly. I just scared the crap out of my wife by activating the horn, while she was in the garage. I didn't know she was out there.

On topic I have to say the BMW app is pretty weak. You'd expect more from BMW...

Do you need to purchase any option packages (executive, enhanced USB etc...) to enable the BMW APP/Assist?

mine works fine. tasks such as lock/unlock and horn/headlight...just takes forever to activate. However, sending directions from google maps is flawless. I haven't tried the ventilation controls yet though.

I am planning to ED in June and would love to be able to use this while in Europe.

However, it looks like BMW assist only works in US?

Beside entering the destination manually, is there other alternatives while doing ED in Europe?

No, you just need to know the email address and password for your BMW Assist account.

IIRC(got an apple, IOS)you have to go through app store UK and download the app from there. that's what I did when it was first announced back in '09 and was not available in the US. I had it working on my 335.

Does anyone know if there is accessible information/data as to when, where, and what has been accessed and or utilized? I mean theoretically someone could obtain or use this without your consent or even hack it? This could be more harmful than even a key being stolen.

Thanks as well...took delivery of my car by having it sent to my driveway...now figuring this all out and wasn't aware this was even an option...app working well for my car!
