Door seal squeaks - replace or lubricate?

All
I have a service appt scheduled tomorrow am to get the door seal squeaking fixed. Should i push to have them replaced or is lubricating them sufficient? I have seen threads in which both fixes have seemed to work, but I wondered what is the current thoughts on this?
thanks
Ian

Did your car recently get detailed? The wax causes squeezing from the door seals. My suggestion is to clean your door jambs. Forgot the name of the cleaner. I can get you the name of the stuff tomorrow

No, nothing changed recently. The noise has been there since I got it but seems to be getting worse

If they end up not being able to fix it. Try aftalen spot remover on the areas where he rubber contacts the body

If they cant fix with some type of cleaning solution, they will replace the seals. That's what my dealer did for me. Once the seals were replaced, everything was good.

they put some kind of lubricant on it and it helped for 2 days. Now it is back. sounds like I should ask them to replace the seals this time

FWIW I just spoke with a BOSCH authorized BMW repair facility about a PPI. One of the biggest things he mentioned on the car is how important it was to lubricate the rubber door seals. I thought he was just trying to upscale me on the whole Bosch authorized thing but it seems that it seems to be the case with these cars. Unfortunately he didn't mention what type of lubrication it was.

If you have time could you post a video of what it sounds like? I'm starting to think I have this issue too but I'm not 100% certain.

I had this same exact issue. Seals would sqeak when the windows were up only, sounded like my roof was creaking...so annoying. First time they lubed the seals, it helped for 2 days. Then I bought Gummi Pledge by Einzett (sp?), didn't help much. Had dealer re-lube the seals, this time they used Rubber Care (per the invoice) squeak is now completely gone

I got a 2015 F80, and Ive got mine lubricated from dealer on 4th~5th month of ownership, than went away. But it cameback again during the colder season, so I talked to my service lady and they told me that they will replace it. got it replaced, no more noise. when I was at the dealership very first time, they have no idea where the noise came from, but I told them "oh its from the door seal, accourding to bimmer forum", than they start to look at door seals. otherwise, they wouldve put me in the loaner car for half of day lol

Gummie Pfledge Stift or Dupont Krytox are specifically made to lubricate rubber seals with the Dupont Product being the better of the two but costly. People have had success with both

thanks for the suggestions everyone. I will take back to the dealer as first step. Sounds like the most definitive fix is to have the seals replaced

Depending on the dealership some might not replace it completely.

My 3er had this problem for so long and I finally took it in to my SA rr006rbc and he didn't replace as far as I know but cleaned it up and re-lubbed it. It has been two days so far and it has been noise free. Unlike 2-3 weeks ago when it was just lubbed and it still had the noise even after.

For the M3 it should be the same when it comes to the fix so. They might or might not replace it, but at the very least have them completely clean it up and re-lub it and put it back. Be a bit careful on the paint of your car though I had to use some Quick Detailer to remove some of the access dried lub on my car. (That sounded really dirty I apologize~)

I treat all my seals (door/trunk/hood) with gummi pfledge about twice a year. The stuff works great and keeps your rubber fresh. I'd give it a shot since it's cheap and proven effective.

I use the same product, unfortunately it doesn't last as long as I thought it would. Once it rains 2-3 times the seals start squeaking again.

I just had this problem on my car. Squeak/creaks sounded like it was the roof. Mentioned it to my service guy on my 10k service and he knew exactly the cause and what to do. There's a service bulletin that instructs dealers to apply Teflon tape to areas of the door seals. This completely eliminated the problem for me and my car now has absolutely zero squeaks or rattles.

Don't try to DIY fix it yourself, let the dealer handle it, though it sounds like that's what you're doing.

Do you happen to SIB number so we can reference with our dealers, it should be on your service invoice?

I haven't had that experience but I do garage my car so that may have something to do with it. I guess YMMV with the pfledge

Will sincerely appreciate if you could load the SIB # as I'm having the same issue.
