Touch pad to navigate map?

Hi Folks,
I used to be able to navigate the map screen by using the touch pad on the idrive controller. Move around the map, tap to click on something etc. It worked on the previous software version, disabled on the new one.

Anyone have the coding line required to bring this back? I didn't think I would miss it but damn I do miss that feature. Cheers!

Old software: F020-16-07-502
New software: F020-17-07-5

To replicate it open up your map screen, then use the touch pad to move around and tap to click on something on the map like a road or POI or anything.

Is that just in interactive map mode? There's a setting somewhere in iDrive where you select where the touch input is enabled.

No it used to work in any map mode. That was the reason I liked it because you didn't have to be in interactive map mode

Mine is the same since the update. Very frustrating. I thought it was because I coded id6 light.

Nah it's the same with the native id5 or coding id6 light.

I wish I took a dump of the head unit coding before I had the car updated. I could maybe do a diff and compare.

If anyone is willing to share a dump of their head unit that still has this working I would appreciate it.

This happened to me recently when my car was updated 3 weeks ago. I thought I was going crazy and someone messed up.

Anyway, would love to know how to get this back too.

You have to enable through coding.

Check your settings:

My Vehicle -> iDrive settings -> Touchpad and see if "Map" is selected..

Don't think this is it. This setting just enables the touch pad to be used when interactive is manually selected.

Prior to the update, moving a finger along the touchpad automatically moves the map around in interactive mode. - this is now not happening.

Just tried to test a few settings with Alex@Alpine but couldn't get it to work. If someone has the coding parameters, PLEASE share.

There are separate coding parameters to scroll and drag route. These options are also not always available in every mode.

This happened to mine too... I thought it happened after I coded it, but I realized that I got a software update the previous week at the dealer.

I'm not complaining, because I used to accidentally brush over it that would change the map position.

Here's a question for you though, can you still pinch to fine zoom? I can. Just the scrolling doesn't work

Yes pinch and zoom still work. Just can't drag your finger on the pad to move the map at the same zoom factor.

Me neither. Unlike you, I don't miss that feature though... to me it was an upgrade!
