Very curious about CS DCT vs GTS DCT. Currently have the GTS DCT flash, but wondering what the differences are for the CS calibration.

Hey it's realy not that far. I'm from 67240, near Mannheim.
It's also possible to do it remotly.

I use Esys and ICOM.

Iam coding and flashing myself and for other clients with BMW Tools. For me there is no big difference in DCT Flash between CS and GTS. For steering you have 3 main options: F82, F87CS, F82GTS. GTS is best for me. And F87CS should be M2 Competition, not M4CS.

For DSC and Differential (GHAS) it seems there are no special CS Settings, when using E-Sys. For GTS we have that.

In addition i think that ABS Programming as done for CS is not the same as coding DSC for GTS. This are different paramter in the ECU.

Might be however when you VO code the EPS module with Typeschlussel set to M3CS - 3S73 (USA) or 3S71 (Euro) it changes this variable to F87CS....don't think it is referring to the upcoming F87 CS since my software is way too old to know the M2CS exists yet, I think it means F87 'or' CS. It is clearly different than the ZCP steering and the GTS steering. I have tested them all. Can I say 100% CS, no, but it is definitely my favorite of the 3.

Have also had my car coded by Alex@Alpine for something else and had him set everything to CS since he can batch code and EPS is on the F87CS value if that helps any...

Bump for the same question.

I still find it difficult to fathom that BMW programmed the GTS DCT to be smoother and less jerky on the street than their standard M4 DCT programming but after reading dozens of user posts saying how amazing the GTS DCT shirts feels I will follow along.

Who has tried the GTS vs CS DCT programming and is there any perceptible difference? The CS model is almost two years newer than the GTS so one would hope that BMW applied all their learning into the CS.

Having done both of them on my friend's car F82 Stage 2 that push around 500hp/550lbft. I'd say the GTS DCT map serve better power delivery and shifting characteristic compared to the CS one.

CS dct map feels hesitant and not as quick when it comes to upshifting in the higher rev range whereas the GTS map excels in that revrange.

So in my own conclusion, if you have m2/3/4 that has power n torque similar to m4 gts, go with the gts dct map. If you have standard m3/m4 then the cs dct map will do the work for you just right.

P.S: i dont quite recommend a standard m2 to have both CS/GTS DCT map because of the power n torque gap are wayyyyyyy much different, creating sluggish and hesitant upshift characters.

just had my base 2015 m3 6 speed coded
- GTS steering, CS EDC, GTS Diff, Euro MDM

all done by Alex.

The suspension feels maybe a bit more compliant in comfort. And maybe a bit more firm in sport. I can definitely notice the improvement in steering. feels more natural. Can't comment on the diff yet.

The euro MDM is by far the biggest improvement on a manual car. MDM before was way too intrusive to have any fun.

What made you pick a combo of CS and GTS?

Well the GTS doesn't have EDC... so there's that

And the the GTS is more track oriented so I want that steering feel. the more direct the better. To me the M3cs and GTS are like the equivalent of a 911 GT3 and GT3RS in the model range. both are track cars you can street, but the RS is more hardcore.

but all the changes are very miniscule to be honest, aside from the euro MDM.

CS EDC makes a noticeable upgrade on a ZCP car. The rest of my stuff is coded as GTS (Steering, DCT flash, Diff, Euro MDM)

Just picked up a new 2018 F80 and looking at getting some coding done. Would Alex be a good place start. I know there's plenty on this site on DIY coding, and the different methods available but there's so much to digest. Any suggestions on where to start? BTW dont mean to Thread jack.

concerning the EDC how does CS improve over ZCP? Is it firmer?

I am trying to decide on MDM between euro and cs. Which is more aggressive (allows more slip)?

A little firmer, but rebound speed is improved. Especially noticeable in Sport+. Comfort and Sport is totally comfortable. I use Sport most of the time.

I've never experienced CS MDM but Euro MDM GREATLY reduces the traction light from coming on.

Just flashed CS steering, CS diff and CS MDM using Thor since I lost all of my coding trying to fix a carplay issue with a dealer update to all my modules.

Will report back but definitely make sure you have a full battery verified by a CTEK charger before starting the flash.

I’ll also flash the CS DCT once my CTEK charges overnight. There isn’t enough juice to do both DCT and the chassis flash back to back.

Very interested in hearing how you find the CS DCT flash once you get round to doing it?

To Alex/other coders out there, am I right in thinking that with a Euro MY2019 car (has OPF filter), my only option is to use the CS DCT flash? Because GTS DCT is not compatible and glitches out after a few minutes (stuck in D1).

I had GTS DCT on my old stock MY2015 M4, and it was vastly better than standard DCT software (much quicker going from D > R, smoother gear changes/no jerkiness, gear changes at higher revs).

I hope CS DCT is just as good.

I'm very interested as well... with everything I'm reading about the CS I planned on flashing/coding CS EDC, MDM, steering, and DCT this spring sometime. My understanding is the CS also uses the base model front sway bar, and springs. I already have the MPHAS installed, def not changing that... but maybe the front sway bar after all of the coding to see if there's a noticeable difference.

Who is Alex? Can anyone point me to the right person or tool for doing coding updates on non-CS/GTS cars.
