What is the optimum gap for NGK 97506 on flex fuel? I hear .020 is the best for E85 use, but since I am planning to switch off between 91 and E85, can I still run .022 or gap down to .020?

I am curious to know what that "happy medium" is as well regarding FlexFuel usage - with the understanding that the happy medium spark plug gap will not be fully optimal for an E85 specific tune or 91/93 oct tune, but ideally would be more than adequate. When the time comes for me to execute the FlexFuel hardware upgrade, I will be operating my M3 anywhere between a stock CS tune up to a BM3 Stage 1 tune, using fuel grades between 93 oct and E85, on the street or on the track.

Happy medium is .021 based on a number line lol :|

I have slot 1 set to full E85 map and slot 2 is a 93FF map. Cary and I have gone back and forth a few times about running the various maps and so far he hasn't advised changing from the 0.020 gap recommended for the NGK 97506 plugs with E85 tune.

I know it's off the latest "BM3" tangent but...

I've heard the "MHD" has this.

Does "BM3" have a flashable Launch Control function for MT cars?

Anyone know what the criteria for GTS Start-up roar is? Sometimes the car does it, sometimes it does not. I thought it might be related to hot vs cold starts but I've seen inconsistent results. Yes, I have it enabled on my latest flash. I do have all of the OEM settings enabled for cold start and such as well. Maybe that's interfering?

Is it possible to have map1 stage1 cold start ON and map2 stage1 cold start OFF? I love the cold start but sometimes its not appropiate.

Sorry, cold start is a universal setting across all modes.

Figured it out: only on warm starts. Otherwise the car "cold starts", in my case, with cat heating disabled so there's no rev and it sounds quieter. Small potatoes.

Hello, I have seen an update of the 2H maps, can you expand information and if there is any Dyno to compare between old and new?

Lots of dynos out there on this. My car did 575whp on 93 octane 2H map last time on dyno.

Are you on the newest update of the 2H map? The change log specifies that with 9.2 released Oct 6 that:

"boost control changed - more boost to redline"

I'm about to be on Pures this week and i'm curious of the same as ALCOBENDAS and how these changes may translate to a dyno and/or what the new expected boost #'s would be.

I got this reply from PTF on one of my support tickets re cold starts and the GTS roar:

Quote:
There is no ideal setting for Cold Start RPM.

Only thing affecting GTS Starup Roar is how cold or hot the car is already (coolant temp). If coolant is already hot it won't start up as loud as idle rpm target is around 700rpm. On cold start the target for idle rpm is around 1100rpm, so rpm shoots up higher when starting cold.

Coldstart impacts the way GTS startup roar works.

So... When coldstart is active (ON), roar is louder. When coldstart is removed (OFF), roar isn't as loud.

GTS Roar Off - ~1200 rpm

GTS Roar On/Cold Start Off - ~1500 rpm

GTS Roar On/Cold Start OEM - ~2000 rpm

On Stage 2 maps - Cold Start is always ON by default.

Just got a response from PTF on the 2H map adjustments:

"The previous map would taper boost to redline. This will maintain a flat 24-25 psi to redline 🙂"

I've seen a mention of it SOMEWHERE on this forum - but any luck/support for integration with Motiv ReFlex?

What are you trying to do with ReFlex+ that requires BM3 support?

Really just assessing options at this point tbh. I had been talking to Bend a while back about potentially using ReFlex+ for a PI setup and could have sworn that I read someone had been using it with BM3. I could swap to Ecutek or something I guess if necessary, but I've been pretty happy with BM3.

I'm not particularly well-read on the subject but mentally preparing the next list of things I'd like to sort out after this round of revisions on my setup. Fueling will continue to be a limiting factor for me.

The ReFlex+ (not the ReFlex Lite) has CANBUS connectivity into your OBD port. You don't really need the ReFlex+ and BM3 "integrated" (actively communicating). You just need them to work together in tandem… PI for example: your tuner would help configure the ReFlex+ for sequential port injection (the extra fueling), then they would write a BM3 tune with reduced DI fueling (keep them from breaking at high pressure). In this case BM3 doesn't have active communication from the ReFlex+, they're just working together. The ReFlex+ can signal the DME through OBD to trigger Limp Mode if the sequential PI has a problem. <- This is the "integrated" part.

Another great part is the ReFlex+ can watch the RPM, Boost and LPFP pressure info coming from the DME and to ramp up a piggyback LPFP. This is way better than using a simple Hobbs switch. Again, if something goes wrong the ReFlex+ can trigger Limp Mode instead of you leaning out an engine (boom).

Few things to note there, the Reflex to DME comms doesn't yet work (so no limp or warning lights), also the reflex needs to be wired into the DME lines directly, not the ODB port.

F80Paul has experience with the Reflex on my car, so he would be able to get you started
