That's how my test drives were - all the normal rules seemed out the window, and it feels like a completely different thing.
Didn't someone post the video of ThrottleHouse doing a drag race of C8 vs Supra (MK5) and the 992 Carrera S?

Yeah I did think about trying to source to OE rears and use the RFs as fronts. They wouldn't have the SAI logo tho which I personally think is way cooler than the M branding lol
That's kind of a cool idea. Seems totally doable

Most of us here knows the difference. Hell, there is a difference with DCTs too. The M-DCT in the F8x and the PDK-S in the Porsche GT cars are way different than the usual DCTs like the Audi DSG, VW DSG or even the Kia/Hyundai DCT. As our F8x or Porsche PDK-S are more manual esque and have behaviors of a 6speed that other tranny don't have. I remember seeing threads about this when F80/F82 was released. So many new drivers didn't know how to even put the car into park ffs, let alone have a grasp of how to properly handle the car in certain situations they otherwise wouldn't have thought twice with a regular Auto. They just think it is... "unique". Some actually think the hesitation and jerkiness at low gears initially was on purpose. It isn't, it is just how general DCTs are until programming got soo good it generally smooths out most modern DCT units.

The other "regular" DCT tranny tend to mimic Torque Autos, the only reason why we know the difference is we are car nerds and we just know the difference. This is why I say most people won't know the difference even in a Macan's PDK because it acts and behaves like a regular, normal auto. The only hint it gives that is a DCT is when you put it into Sport+ or when you throw the car into reverse and it takes literally an actual second and a half to grab the reverse gear. I even notice the shift speed between the Macan GTS's PDK and my F80 M-DCT. When I self shift, the Macan PDK is noticeably slower and I mean it is very noticeable. My F80, or even my 2015 F82 never once had a quarter/half second delay in between shifts when I pull.

I am a DCT person through and through and I will always prioritize a DCT equipped car over a ZF8. But that doesn't mean regular consumers know the difference because all they are told is, "It is an Automatic!" because that is what it says on the spec sheet. That's why they don't use the paddles, most think it's a gimmick.

When I was at the LA Auto Show in 2019 and the Supra was shown off. I had a friend with me and I joked about how much BMW I see in the car. Some dude was close to me and asked if that was true and I told him straight up where this car is built and that everything was BMW except for the tuning. This dude was roughly my age (30s) and had NO clue the Supra (MK5) and Z4 were basically one and the same. You think people like that would know the difference between a DCT and Torque Automatic?
I'd say even the "normal" PDK in the 911 is quite sharp in its dynamics...

Ok I now have the final answer. I just couldn’t get over my car without a lip, so we raised the front some more and I went with the X-PH front splitters and carbon lip (thanks Mike!). In order to save this lip we went conservative on the front and made it 18 rings on the front KWs (it was at 10 lol). So far, zero scrapes over curbs, driveways, or speed bumps so I think I’m good. If I start scraping again we’ll raise it up a couple more notches in front but so far so good. Love the way it looks now!

I would love to have a hand on the newer 8speed PDK in the 992.

Dealership is so short on inventory I don't have a chance to.

Looks great, choice of mods is nice as well as they aren't too flashy but add to the theme of subtle aggression.

GrussGott thought you'd enjoy this article, some interesting talk about BMW's EV adaptation and process, as well as some financial analysis in there as well.

Thanks! Yeah I think it's where I want it to be now, likely sticking with the stock wheels unless something nice at a great price comes up in the forums.

Thanks, definitely low but going to keep as is for now unless any issues pop up.

It is LOW, but the front fenders always have a bigger opening so can't have even wheel gaps, i mean you can, most people don't care about rake and weight distribution and just want even gaps front to rear

NickyC think you should commit fully to the E36 STW look and tuck them in HARD!

He's right though, where the heck are these cars? I still haven't seen a single one yet on the road besides mine!

I see them mainly on the freeways between Rancho Cucamonga and City of Industry. The Dravit Gray I saw on the 5 freeway in O.C.

Here in the East Bay in Norcal, I've seen maybe 3 since launch. Another 2 at different car meets. To be fair, they are about as rare as F80s. I do see more F80s but that's to be expected.

I drive daily around Mountain View, cupertino, palo alto, Los Gatos, etc on 101 & 280, a lot of El Camino, et al and frequently drive past BMW Mountain View & BMW Stevens Creek ... I haven't seen any G8x and only 2 G3x.

And, BTW, I see multiple F8x daily: I see them parked on the steets, in driveways, being detailed, and on the road. Just saw a Sakhir Orange in the Walgreens parking lot in Redwood City. A day doesn't go by where I don't see at least one.

Now I'm on my third run up the West Coast this year and yet again I've seen X5Ms, M8s, Lambos, Ferraris, McLarens, etc (and oddly a shit ton of Alpha Gs this time - they're all over) but zero G3/8x. An Alpine F8x all modded out cut me off on the freeway. I was cool with it.

Anyway, whereever Sedan_Clan is seeing the G8xs, that's about the only place they are because unless people are lying, they're pretty rare.

Again, you guys have to consider my office is a car that I'm in 10-16 hours a day, literally watching traffic patterns on surface streets and freeways (…when I'm not dealing with the burglaries, robberies, murders, etc.). I see everything….

Trust me, you don't want to see them on the road. They're even uglier in person...
