What is the Life of MPSS?
I have MPSS on my F80
With 19k miles on it My dealership said the current wear on them is 7/10 I am midway of my lease that will end on feb,2020. I have a set of Blizzak for the winter. So I have like 12+ months left with summer tires on. I was thinking of putting MPSS 4S asap so I will be able to use them and not give the car back with fresh tires. Also what is the value of used MPSS with like 20k on them. What you guys think. |

How the hell did you get 19k on MPSS? You must be driving like a grandma? Both sets I've had were totally gone by 14-15k and I'm not an aggressive driver.

Exactly something is not right here , no way u can have 19k miles and still have 7/10 left, mine wore out after 16k miles and I am not that of an aggressive driver .At the most u can get 20k out of MPSS

I replaced the MPSSs on my 2015 M4 @ 18K with MP4S. If I recall, they had 3/32 left so they needed it - I usually replace at 4/32. I suspect your dealer meant 7/32, not 7/10 because 70% of tread left at 15K miles would be highly unusual. Just get a tire depth gauge and check yourself. I can't imagine a single set of tires lasting the entire lease, so you'll need to replace but don't replace too soon such that you'll need to do it again right before the end of the lease.
Also, aside from driving style, road materials also matter to tire life.

My new car has Conti's. I don't hate them. However, in other cars that came with Conti's they seems to degrade performance and tread faster over time than Michelin's. We'll see how these go.

I can tell you buying the standard PSS's give you substantially more mileage over the "star" versions. I didn't get much more than 15k if that from the OE set. Went with the generic versions and didn't burn them off before trading it in, which was at least 15k and had a good bit of life left. I'm only guessing at the latter's mileage as I don't remember.

My stock tires lasted 19k miles easily, and that includes 4 track days. I had my car aligned to the dead center of the tow spec every spring and was extremely anal about my tire pressures. Poor alignments(including the one your car left the factory with) is what kills tires.

I got almost 30k on the button. I did have very slight threads showing on the inside rears I didn't notice soon enough. Just went 265/295 so time to see what these will do. Adding DPs and BM3 May shorten their life I suspect.
