DIY: Lowering Spring Install

when you reassemble the FRONT shock/spring, and jack it back up into strut mount, how much should you be jacking up the shock/spring assembly before tightening the strut nut? Do i just apply enough pressure to lock up the spring so it doesn't move OR do i have to jack it up so that its almost lifting the car off the jack stands?

you don't have to overthink it. when you put wheels back on and suspension compresses, just retorque the top nut then.
