Preventing dye transfer on leather seats
My 535 had ivory colored leather and was always difficult to clean due to dye transfer from blue jeans. My new M3 that is on the way has sakhir orange interior so not sure if it will be as difficult to keep clean but would like to treat the seats with something if possible to make the cleaning easier.
Any ideas here?

There are a few options out there. Leather Masters has a product to remove the transfer, you need to be mindful of it and get it off before it permanently dies the area. Using their protection creme can help as well.
Also look into a coating option. Modesta has a new two part system, that adds an extra top coat to bolsters that allows for less friction on those areas. You would need to check about the Ivory color though, and have any products tested on an area that is not in view just in case something changes. Bruce |

So far my SS leather interior is as much of a pain as I expected it to be! I chose it knowing I wear jeans 99% of the time, and expected to spend extra time maintaining it. I put C Quartz leather on it and I'm not sure that helped any at all with the transfer. Would love to know if there's a product that works better. I may try what Bruce suggests above.

I used a CQuartz leather protector and worked particularly well as I was also getting jeans dye transfer in the really hot and humid Houston summer months. Reminds me that I prob ought to reapply a coat as it was over 2 years ago when applied which speaks for itself I guess!

I have the silverstone interior. I consistently wear jeans and the dye does transfer. The key is keeping up with the maintenance.
Every two weeks or so I take a micro fiber cloth and some warm water and wipe down the seats. Never used any products or chemicals. The seats come out looking brand new every time. Takes all of 2 mins to do. You don't need any fancy coatings or wizardy to keep your seats clean. Use common sense. On Sakhir Orange seats you could probably even get away with doing it monthly or every 6 weeks. |

I have Oyster and have been using the Dr Leather cleaner and dye blocker. Jean transfer wipes right off.

I tried the CQuartz too and was not impressed (I have SS interior), I don't think it offered any protection at all. I am currently sitting on a white towel when wearing jeans until I find a product that actually works!
As a side note, my daughter has blue hair (don't judge), and it got on the passenger headrest. I can't get it off to save my life! I haven't tried anything harsh for fear of making the seat look worse. Any suggestions?

constant up keep will be your best solution. typically the more expensive the jean the worse the dye transfer is.

I never wear jeans in this car as it is not my daily driver, but i do wear basketball shorts (polyster) and cotton, polyster, or blend t-shirts. Theoretically, it shouldn't really stain as much with those artificial materials? I don't daily the car, sits in the garage, and i wipe down the seats once every 2 weeks (4-5 drives) with an AutoFiber Korean Plush towel.
