That sounds awesome. Between some aftermarket and setups like yours, CS and GTS, F8X has become a legit good sounding car. Especially under load. Lots of good flybys in this vid from 10:15.

The ones I was looking into making could be from orange HPDE. The problem with painting them is that the paint eventually flakes if you catch the splitter just right.

I don't run either of mine because it's impossible not to beat them up when using the car as a DD.

True, but a decent 991.1 with carbon buckets and nose lift (the must have options in my book) with 20-30k miles is $115k or more. That's nearly twice what I paid.

Though I do love the 991 GT3, $55-$60k is a lot to pay for engine note and a Porsche badge. Also significantly less practical since I am a golfer and the 911 has no real space for clubs.

Been out of this group for a bit... what’s the latest on GTS prices? I sold mine last year because I needed to invest the money into some property... have a chance to grab another one and was curious if there’s any more info on them? It looks like they are around 80k... still. Wonder if the new m3/m4 will hurt it at all... I know gts is no regular m3/m4... but usually new model does make the older one take a hit.

Looks like high 80s minimum for a clean one, one owner, no history. Just checked cars.com. Cheaper ones have paint scratches or carbon fiber dings. Can be expensive to fix, especially on flat grey.
Not too many in the market right now. May be over the winter...
New M4 is 500 lbs heavier. Won’t hurt it.

G80 weight is a big issue for a track rat (me), used GTS or buyout on my CS vs the dark side (Porsche). Have just about one year to figure it out.

I just paid 78k, 5100 miles, Frozen grey, 2 owners although the first owner had it for almost the whole life of the car. Cosmetic dings on the front splitter lip otherwise essentially clean.

Had XPEL PPF and tint otherwise stock.

Still under BMW warranty which is a good thing as the water injection is not working, but the previous owner was not aware of the problem.

G8X is probably a car that no current or prospective GTS owner asked for.

The audience for it remains small, but might have just expanded some. Looks like the end of an era.

I had zero interest in selling, doubling down on that sentiment now.

Transfer AP's, load up camber, get seat & harness sorted, join the club.

re dark side - you ever take time out from passing them to have a go in any of those GT cars?

I bought mine specifically to go to the track. I've never been but been dreaming my whole life.

I think it's a bit sad many GTS were bought by speculators, Looking at my service records the first owner got the break in done and then essentially never drove it.

I'm certain inactivity is the source of my current water injection issues but BMW is going to make it right before I'm out of warranty.

Also I think this is the best looking M ever made.

Haha, no he is not. Yes, a .2 6MT. If you think more about going this direction please feel free to reach out. Happy to provide feedback, comparison to CS/GTS.

Pretty sweet rental options but damn! $$$

Thank you for your input. Is that considered a great deal or a normal one? Just trying to get some kind of benchmark on all these others that are for sale in high 80’s. I sold mine last year for 79k... it had only 3k miles and was bone stock... minus the xpel.

That is a very reasonable question and truthfully I don't have a good answer.

I was so excited to get the GTS as I had been lusting for one for so long I didn't quibble about the price.

I'm a sucker for rare vehicles (I have a 2006 BMW HP2 Enduro motorcycle)

But the GTS is such a pretty machine, My opinion is that you can't get an accurate value just from the web.

My advice - if you desire it, buy it.

If it doesn't speak to you then move on.

I’m currently looking, they seem to be in the high 70s low 80s for clean cars.

This one at BMW of Akron looks like the best buy to me at the moment. mid-80's. https://www.bmwakron.com/used-Akron-...4S9C55GK578917

Another at Toy Barn for 80 with MCS dampers, some camber f & r, leftover harness eye bolts in the cage. Apparent track car, not that that should disqualify. No longer ready to go as track car though. If you're going that route, might as well get one that's still prepped imo.

New model usually has no impact on an older, limited production model. If anything, price only increases as the new model is heavier, looks worse, or has some other undesirable trait that makes the previous model look "better" to enthusiasts.

See E92 M3 GTS, 997 GT3 RS, SLS, etc. when the newer variant was released.

991.1 GT3 is pretty spectacular car. I like the 991 interior more than the F8x, the carbon buckets are amazing seats, fit and finish is that little bit better than a F8x as well.

The PDK is a little bit faster than our DCT, traction is better (rear engine plus less torque will do that), car is significantly lighter, and the engine noise from 8-9k is simply unbelievable. They also have a big factory engine warranty through 2024 or 120k miles because of the early build finger follower issues the MA1 engines had.

If I could have justified a GT3, I would have it over the GTS. But the price difference when I bought was simply too much. A decent 991.1 with buckets is $110k+ at dealer auction, probably closer to $120K retail. GTS prices have been rising but are still way, way under that.

Agree, I was thinking about used GT3 on and off but can't justify the entry fee, not yet anyhow.

I was watching GTS and CS prices for years and am very glad I waited.

Was actually looking at an overpriced CS at the local MB dealer when I found a local GTS at the same price!

FYI, the one at BMW San Rafael for $77 has been tracked “heavily” and came in on slicks. Sales rep was really honest about the condition. Could be a good one for someone looking to track primarily.

I'm pleased with my purchase, I have never been to a track and plan on a few low key days to experience the GTS at its fullest.

I do not believe the one I bought was ever tracked, the prior owner still had the original Sport Cup 2 and they did not look very worn, he replaced them with SuperSport after got a nail puncture, he did not like the way they pick up road debris.

I just changed them back to Cup 2.

Right now I am not planning on any modifications as I will drive on the road much more than track.

Glad you’re happy.

That San Rafael car had to have brake pads and tires replaced at 3k miles so was tracked a fair amount. And is missing the front splitter due to track damage. But easy fixes for someone inclined towards a car like that.

I'm probably going to buy aftermarket splitter lip and shelve my OEM which has some very minor cosmetic dings...
