I feel like I'm the dad in the M3/M4 commercial. A 2 door Porsche isn't practical for me and won't be until my kids are off to college. I've got a long time to wait.

Until then, the F80 M3 is now big enough to be a comfortable daily driver, has all the bells and whistles to keep me engaged, has epic performance on tap when I want a spirited driving experience, on the road and on the track, and has a sexy and aggressive shroud that is the subject of wet dreams.

They scored big with the F80/F82. Great job BMW!

recently I test drove a new 335i sedan with M sports package MSRP $58K. It has an exterior design of an older Hyundai and drive like a 1990 Camry - certainly not worth $58K. The new M3 look promising and hope it has spirit and soul that 335i lacks

LOL, please find me an older Hyundai that looks like an M Sport and find me a 1990 Camry that drives like the 335i.

Love the final production version of the M3 and M4. They seem to handle very well in stock form on the track too. Loving the interior as well!

What kind of mods will be in store for this version?

Can't wait to see this car with an Eisenmann exhaust. The new videos added of them being driven on the track don't sound special at all.

One of the first for me I'm sure will be rear section exhaust, from what I can tell from the videos and photos. As on the E92, stock exhaust is too muted and butt ugly (tips and exposed cans), and undoubtedly heavy. Eisenmann, Akropovik and others will surely be hard at work as soon as they can get cars. I see BMW is also already announcing a sport exhaust for the 2M even before the car is released. Would be better if it was an order option.

Better steel brakes will be on the track guys' lists. Many will want to tune for more power, but that doesn't interest me.

We should wait to see if the steel brakes are good enough for DE days.......they might be for most people until they start using R-compound tires. Race pads should do it but those cheese grater rotors are going to eat pads. We will see.......

i think the exhaust sounds satisfying, but sure this thing has to be ordered with the performance exhaust.

deciding on whether to get f80/82 or not i think it has to do with how much it's up the competition with the other brands.

but one question.. why 4 pistons brake callipers in the front and not 6 !! ??

+1

Reminds me of when I asked the guys at PCD what their favorite car was. Figured it was M6 or maybe M3 coupe, nope. They said M5 because you could drive it everyday with the backseat but it has the performance as well.

Someone will come up with a slotted rotor pretty quickly I would think

Per the first post:

BMW M compound brakes standard (in blue)
four piston front / two piston rear
BMW M carbon ceramic brakes optional (in gold)
six piston front / four piston rear

Three reasons: 1) it's less-expensive for BMW to do the 4 caliper in production (hence keeps the lid on the car's retail price and also maximises their margin), and 2) it will encourage more people to select the CCB option with the enormous profit margin associated with it and 3) it's more brake than most M3 customers will ever use/need anyway.

Not much use having a bling halo carbon brake system when there is a steel option that is just as good.

I am hoping you are right. The only thing yet to be seen (or reviewed) is the driving "feel" on the f80/82. The subjective stuff. Forget about the numbers. I'm talking about the visceral stuff which you can not quantify. Turbo and electric steering look great on paper, but have a greater tendency to dis-engage the driver and make for a more numb and artificial driving experience, in my experience.

I'm diggin' this thing a lot. After watching a video of F80 around the track, I came to the conclusion that the exhaust sounds pretty good. It different from S65 but I think I'm going to like it. Only six more months and she is MINE!
