Is there any reason why people prefer to purchase this through FC than the original vendor themselves? Just curious....thank you

Looks like it's only free if you're a previous customer. It's $50 extra to get it cut now

It looks like key cutting is included in the service and comes with a limited lifetime warranty and the cutting is just a standalone service for people looking to get their keys cut after the fact.

If you go directly through Gates, the cutting is included.

Yeah he actually emailed me back after my last post in the thread and said he misread my question. The key cutting is included in the $175.

I'm about to pull the trigger on this, but I can't seem to make out what the frequency on my FOB is? It is so blurry. Are the F83 series 434 MHz?
Thanks

I don't want to speak for them but know FC and/or George can sort it out. I was unable to provide and it wasn't an issue.

I just received my new fob from Gates Innovation.

The entire process took about 3 weeks because I'm in Canada and shipping international was a pain in the butt. For fellow Canadian members, make sure not to ship via UPS - they will screw you over with import charges and duty even though it's your own key that you're shipping.

Have to say that I was very impressed by George. His customer service is excellent and the workmanship and care in wrapping/delivering the key was exceptional.

I can't say enough good things about this. This is the key that should have came with the F82 platform from the beginning. It doesn't have the plasticky feel but instead has a nice metal weight to it. It's slimmer and not as bulbous.

If anyone is on the fence about this, do it. You won't regret it. Especially now since the key cutting is included too.

Just received mine back, process took some time as I'm based in Europe but was well worth the wait.
Turnaround was quick from Gates, but the shipping took a long time due to covid.
Key feels heavier and higher quality.
It feels like an M key should.

Just need to be smarter than the man. When you get the email or request to pay duties and brokerage you just tell them you would like to self clear.

They send you the documentation, you go to your closest border services and pay the duty only.

Learnt that lesson last year with FedEx, UPS, USPS etc

Key looks awesome though lol

I have also noticed the battery draining more quickly than the original fob. I was going to switch the other fob but kept it original because of the battery issue

I had both fobs modded and alter between them. Haven’t noticed any issues.

My battery might drain slighty faster than a regular key fob. But I don’t really mind replacing it more frequently to have such an upgrade in terms of the fob itself.

Hate reviving an old thread, but my key fob stopped working a month ago. I've been emailing Gates, messaged him on their site, and reached out via IG and radio silence. Going on 4 weeks now without a response. Anyone know what's going on with him?

I've been trying to get in contact with the Gates team as I had shipped my key back to them for warranty fix. They have not responded back.

Nyc911 I texted him after I saw these responses. He’s good people and will not disappoint with the quality. Absolutely love my key and he’s always willing to help anytime I need him.

I'm going on 2+ months without a response. Is there a customer service number publicly available? Or can you ask him to respond to any one of the numerous emails I've sent?

Thanks,

Antonio
