When my m4 was stock, I could easily spin the tires 1st-2nd by just hammering the throttle. Seems a bit off if you can't.

my 2016 m3 can spin the tires anywhere under 40 mph in sport mode, 6 speed manual, if i put my foot into it....it had more traction when the tires were new, it's very manageable ....

It might have something to do with the stock ECU mapping.
I found my 2015 in stock mode was / had very aggressive traction control.
last month we updated the factory software to the latest and it is far more lively.

with the jb4 on map 2, traction is a real crap throw...

Is it a ZCP? The changes to the shock valving and engine torque curve has really reduced traction issues. My '18 ZCP will stay planted with traction--it takes effort to break the tires loose.

Stop in front of a police station push the dcs button, then slam the throttle.

Mine too....takes some effort, and obviously DSC completely off.

So not a double negative, but instead a single negative with a contradicting adverb?

You do hold the traction control button down until the symbol for off shows up on the dash right?

I can sit there doing donuts all day long, 1st, 2nd and spin in 3rd at certain times/temps.

I know this thread is old, but I recognize several names on this post as current members. Anyway, on my 2018 F83 (conv) ZCP I feel like I’m pretty close to not being able to spin tires too. I’ve not done the launch control yet since owning it, mostly because I don’t get out much with it and when I do I can’t find a good/safe spot to try it. However, with the few times I’ve had DSC entirely off, it pretty much doesn’t want to spin just mashing it from a stop; once I get into boost then it will start spinning, but again I’ve not really been to a place where I can just romp on it continuously to get a good feel for it. As such, I’ve been pretty hesitant to horse around in traffic, since I just heard stories of how loose they can get. I’ve just not personally seen it get into heavy tire spin yet. I know I have a few extra pounds of weight on the rear tires, so I’m sure that has an impact as well, like bags of sand in a pickup during winter.

I assume the majority of people are talking about the 6MT as opposed to DCT? It really was only mentioned a few times, but I suspect if the OP has a DCT it will act entirely different than a MT. I can’t imagine a MT car that can’t spin tires with a clutch dump; I just don’t have control over my clutches, aside from loosely being able to with launch control.

Is this normal for the M4 or should it be more responsive like my M3 was?
I have a 2015 F80 and pretty much in any gear if i give it too much gas the back tires will start to give.

She must have some sticky rear tires
I see what you did there

My 2016 M4 6MT felt like it wanted to kill me on the daily - would smoke the tires with ease and break lose out back constantly.

My 2018 M3 6MT Competition much more composed, planted, less likely to spin the tires!

My 2015 smoked the tires all the time, it was glorious.

My 2018 Comp is more planted, will still smoke the tires but need to do it deliberately. I haven't even lost the back end of an angry 1-2 shift on my 2018 like the 2015, that car always wanted to step out and I loved it.

I want my 2015 back, and you'll think I'm nuts but I might unload this 2018 at the insane prices 2018 LCIs are going for and pick up a 2015 again with like 40-50k miles and a Carmax warranty hah.

It's all in the torque curve. If you update the software on a 2015/2016 it will get the new torque curve and the car will be more planted in the low rpms. You have to find a 2015/16 that hasn't been updated if you want that insane torque down low! It's fun but not practical in anyway!

Tune your car with BM3 stage 1 and you will spin them all day long comp pack or not.

Exactly what he said lol

My 2016 f80 6mt/ 2018 dct broke tires loose every single day without a problem. Went through tires in 10k miles.

Check for boost leaks and keep up with routine maintenance.

True: I think the dealer updated my software because now the car just hooks up and launches straight with DSC Off whereas before it would generate pretty good wheelspin and start going sideways. Both are fun.

Lol wat?

F8X is basically an American muscle car in regards to traction.

Well, when my m4 zcp was stock, it didn't have any traction issue when I set to sport plus, mdm with stock pss tires

But if you are talking about traction off, I can make my 96 Toyota Avalon burn out crazy. Doesn't even need a m4 to do it

I found one of those 16's and I will politely ask bwm never to update it if possible. Breaks loose at will, and to me it still launches with launch control better than my stage 2 bm3 435i did, traction wise. Just gotta launch from the lowest possible rpm setting. I drive it in all sport+ settings, dsc off, and s3 dct mode, as soon as its warm, all the time. I love it just a little unruly.
